Giants-Vikings game postponed until Monday Night (1 Viewer)

Guess Farve needed an extra day of rest so NFL decided to accomodate him.
Anybody know Favre's whereabouts when this thing collapsed? The man is a genius.
I heard the possibilties are TCF Bank StadiumArrowHead orMeadowlands
I think it's going to be somewhere in the MN/WI region. The Giants are not going to stand for a flight back to NYC after flying to KC, staying overnight, and flying to MN.

I think they would be alright with an additional home game on the schedule.

I think the Giants would be thrilled to fly back to NY and play there

Wow, this is crazy. IMO, the NFL needs to immediately find another stadium to have this game in tomorrow night. There's no guarantee that they'll be able to get the Metrodome roof ready by tomorrow night and moving the game to any other day or week just doesn't seem feasible. It would throw the whole NFL schedule into chaos.

And how stupid is it to have a stadium roof in Minnesota that can collapse under a bunch of snow? Like you can't expect a whole bunch of snow there or something. You'd think they would have at least figured out a way to heat is so that the snow melted and ran off before accumulating.

They just need to fly over to Detroit and play at a neutral similar venue. Of all the options, there is none better.

Yeah, flying back home today (sleeping in their own beds), and playing in front of home crowd is a terrible option for the Giants.

:jawdrop: Would love that! They better get here soon though. The snow is coming this way.

NFL-N covering this

Brand new stadium for Univ. of Minn. - TCF Stadium - but it is outdoors

Monday forecast - 10 degrees below zero for the low.

I cannot imagine this game gets moved out of this week - there's no room for it anywhere else. That said I am considering being overly cautious and telling the league I commish that if they have a viking/giant in their lineup, to email me an alternate before games start today in case the game is postponed in such a way to screw the fantasy week up.

It is probably unneccesary but I'd hate the game to get adjusted in such a way to screw people and I can't come up with another alternative.

The "best" move here is K.C.

Chiefs are in SD and the Giants are already in K.C.

No reason they couldn't get everything ready by Tomorrow night, IMO.

In reality I REALLY hope they move it to the new TCF stadium.. Outdoor Football, wind chills around -20.. :football:

Why don't the Vikes, City and State go whole hog and upgrade UMinn to a pro quality stadium???The Vikes made 4 Super Bowls with that late season outdoor home field advantage. Since, not one.

Bud Grant would love it.Wouldn't this make the most sense assuming that travel for fans is possible? I mean, GB plays outside in frigid weather this time of year. What's the difference?

Not to mention that Det is already hooked up for TV for the GB-Det game today. Fox crew is ready to go to broadcast tomorrow. NFL isn't stupid. Not going to lose any potential revenue over this.

When they were preparing to build a new stadium for the Gophers, the Vikings opted out of "sharing" a stadium with them. Other than revenue it made absolutely no sense to opt out. Unless they were thinking they had no chance of getting a stadium built for themselves so they could move the team. :tinfoilhat:

Metrodome official Bill Lester said Sunday morning that the stadium is unlikely to be ready in time for kickoff on Monday night.

Lester is the executive director of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission that operates the stadium. He says the dome suffered damage to two of its triangle-shaped Teflon panels and that his crew is still assessing the situation.

via Newsday: The Giants did not bring ANY cold weather gear.
pretty sure they could get that sent out by monday night.and soooooooooooo hoping they play in the U's stadium, that would be killer!! nice knowing ya vikings, get ready for a new team L.A.
that is A LOT of gear to move in under 36 hoursplus the Giants aren't even in Minnesota yetDetroit seems like the right idea
lol, aerosmith moves its entire show hundreds of miles overnight, and that includes breakdown and setup. not an issue.

Why not K.C. ?? The Giants are already there, Chiefs are out in SD.. No reason the T.V. crews and the Vikings here in Minnesota couldn't make it down to K.C. by tomorrow night. :tinfoilhat:

yes, but they are prepared and ready to move all of the gearthe Giants were planning to play indoors.i'm not saying it is impossible, just saying it is another hindrance

Makes my Detroit solution all the more obvious. I should be running the NFL.
detroit can't put butts in the seats with its own team, the place would be empty. boooooooooooooooo
i don't think attendance is the primary concern
i'm sorry, i thought we were talking about the nfl, where money is the ONLY concern.

yes, a very minor point, which as the point.

i actually have no idea what i am talking about, i just want the vikings to play outside. hell, i would get a ticket if they played in UofM's stadium; seriously.

Yeah this made no sense at all to me, as a MN taxpayer who wholeheartedly opposes paying for yet another stadium. The NFL and Vikings need to pay for 100% of the costs. I'm ok with the state or a city throwing in some land and a bit of infrastructure though.

Racino would pay for the Stadium and much more.

Didn't the state (and I don't know maybe the city too) pay for the UMinn stadium anyway? If the NFL and Vikes chipped in the upgrade to NFL quality, thereyago, they're there.

Rich Eisen just said the game will not be played on Monday night or Tuesday night at the Metrodome.
