Giants-Vikings game postponed until Monday Night (1 Viewer)

via Newsday: The Giants did not bring ANY cold weather gear.
pretty sure they could get that sent out by monday night.and soooooooooooo hoping they play in the U's stadium, that would be killer!! nice knowing ya vikings, get ready for a new team L.A.
that is A LOT of gear to move in under 36 hoursplus the Giants aren't even in Minnesota yetDetroit seems like the right idea
Why not K.C. ?? The Giants are already there, Chiefs are out in SD.. No reason the T.V. crews and the Vikings here in Minnesota couldn't make it down to K.C. by tomorrow night.
It's a massive undertaking to move camera and satellite trucks and people in a day. Thats assuming the roads are fine and there are no more problems traveling. and that they can get the cameras from whatever was set up in the metrodome. and then they have to have time to set it all up and do checks in KC.It's not impossible but it's no easy thing.

Man, sure would be NICE if there was only THREE FREAKIN posts in here?? Why must you guys destroy this thread with useless talk??

1. Game moved to Monday night.

2. Roof collapsed and will be moved to a new location.

3. NICKS STATUS!! (and SS)

Geesh.......................

lol, aerosmith moves its entire show hundreds of miles overnight, and that includes breakdown and setup. not an issue.
Completely different things. Aerosmith has a crew which is designed to move a lot of stuff over a short time and the do it virtually every night. You're talking about a TV crew which is designed to set up at least a day ahead of time and move equipment before that.Different crews, different skills and much different situation.

FavreCo knows his stuff. Aiello tweeted that they are looking at the University of Minnesota, Ford Field, and Lucas Oil Stadium.

come on, it ain't friggin' rocket science. maybe they should hire some old roadies to help the girls out with the "change".

And there's no guarantee that FOX would even be able to get it's gear from the collapsed dome anyway so they might have to send a whole bunch more equipment to Minny/wherever.

Detroit makes the most sense.
Ticket sales and refunds is going to be a mess
And they won't be anywhere else? They aren't playing this game in th Metrodome.
They def will be considering U of Minn first for this though.
That's a dome? Then that's option #1. It's not. Not under consideration.
Not a dome, but it is being considered per NFL Network.

I'm thinking they are weighing dome vs recouping tickets atm.

Actually TV production may not be rocket science but it's not simple either. Any massive undertaking of moving man and equipment takes time to do.Again, not saying it won't happen but comparing Aerosmith roadies and TV roadies is silly. It's not the same thing. You can think it's simple all you want but you'd be wrong.I've worked in production and know a lot of grips and production people. It's two different worlds. There is likely to be a bunch of TV equipment in KC as it is. Whether they use that as a venue or not may depend on local cameras, satellite trucks and other material available in the KC area. If its there, KC makes as much sense as anywhere else.

No chance this game is postponed, right? With Giants in playoff hunt and no bye weeks to move this to, it has to be played on Monday, right?

mortreport Chris Mortensen

Ford Field already had been contacted by NFL. Dome stadium. Travel nearly equal. Fox has TV equip in place.

It will be a cluster no matter what. At least they have everything set up there already. My preference would be to see the game at Gopher Stadium.
REAL football fans agree  Unfortunately I do see a "wimp" out move to a Dome.

Problem is Giants did not bring their snow gear this game will be indoors somewhere.

does this mean we will get two early games in the MN area?? we were scheduled to be locked out of the cbs early game.
nope. Pats/Bears for youhttp://the506.com/sports/?tag=2010-week-14
that is the late game. we get gb/detroit now for our early game, but since the vikings are not playing the early game any longer, why do we not also get the pit/cin game?? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

My be kind of a stupid question but what do they do with tickets for a game like this (assuming it is moved to Detroit). Current ticket holders aren't very likely to make the trip for a sub par team in bad weather and how would they distribute tickets in Detroit a day in advance?

i was wondering about the same thing. poor vikings fans, not their year.

Of all the options, this seems most likely to me. (not that my opinion matters). We will find out at 11.

I'd have to think that it may be nearly impossible to have this game at TCF Bank Stadium on the U of MN campus. We got DUMPED on yesterday, and there has to be an unbelievable amount of snow in that stadium which would have to be removed in basically 24 hours. I may be wrong, but I think that's unrealistic to expect. I'm sure the Vikings are concerned with lost revenue if this game goes outside the state of Minnesota, but if it's going to be tomorrow night I'd lay odds that it will be in Detroit or Indy.

John Clayton just said on ESPN that Detroit was more likely than the University Of Minnesota because, among other reasons, it was indoors and it would be easier on Brett Favre's tired old bones. :goodposting:

That's it, if this game is in Detroit or Indy they are moving to L.A.Seriously.
they are moving to LA anyway. 14 years of right leaning government has convinced locals that they should not have to pay for a new stadium.sad days.

Game could be canceled. How will this be handled by fantasy football. I assume all players will get a ZERO.

sooooo hope they play in Minny, people are giving tixs away on craigslist!!

lol @ if favre can't play i guess no one plays comment on espn.

Game time temperature at TCF stadium would rival the 1967 Ice Bowl, coldest game in NFL history...

Detroit may finally get a Monday night game but the Lions aren't in it. LOL
In a different thread it was brought up New Orleans maybe the better option because of weather and traveling. Detroit is getting what we just went through.. Tonight's forecast for Detroit:Snow along with gusty winds at times. Low 16F. Winds NNW at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 2 to 4 inches. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
