Gibril Wilson sharing time with Williams (1 Viewer)

FYI-Wilson, who had an interception on Sunday, said his being replaced by Shaun Williams late in the game was simply part of the defensive backfield rotation, the Newark Star-Ledger reports.Recommendation: Williams had a big hit on Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald, knocking his helmet off. Wilson expects to continue sharing time with Williams in some situations and also thinks the team might eventually put both players in the base defense for a few plays, leaving Brent Alexander as the odd man out. Rotowire

Huh?

thats what i said when i first read it lol. basically its saying Wilson wont be in the game for every single play on defense and that the NYG will use a backup sometime lol

I would take this as more as him (williams) playing only few plays. G. Wilson is not the biggest Safety and he is one of their playmakers in the secondary. Thus, they want him around fo rthe entire season and to be fresh.

If anyone hears anything else as the games progress, please let us know. I, for one (of many) am extremely high on Wilson this year. It would suck if he gets him playing time cut. Gotta stay on top of this.

late in the game week 1 was in the bag for NY... my thoughts would be they were resting Wilson since the game was in hand so one of their playmakers on D didn't get hurt in scrub time. I wouldn't worry unless it happens more often. The bigger worry is A.Peirce in the middle sucking up too many tackles this year...

Does SSBC mean that Williams will vulture goalline carries?

Shaun Williams is rotating in at both SS and FS which is reducing the amout of snaps for both Gibril Wilson and Brent Alexander

Wilson still had 9 tackles (5 solo/4 assists) even though he was sharing time w/ Williams. I saw Wilson in the game on almost all of the snaps.

I echo the sentiments regarding the game being in hand. Williams will cycle in much more for Brent Alexander than for Gibril. Wilson is still very active in the scheme. They're still blitzing with him like they did a year ago. I've got Wilson in my dynasty league and health is my only concern. He's a big hitter in a small package. Bob Sanders has already demonstrated it's tough to stay healthy if you're an undersized assasin. Wilson's injury last season was to his neck. If the Giants rest him late in games when they've got a big lead, which frankly might happen maybe 2 more times this season, then it's not a bad thing.

 Might want to edit that one, Mr. Campanis. ;)

Thanks ... I kept reading your post instead of my original and thought ... "what? he's a BIG hitter. What am I missing?" :bag:

In this case does Wilson slide to free safety?

Not a Giants fan but live here in Jersey. All Giant games are broadcast on local TV and I havent seen Wilson leave the field very much, if at all. He is very easy to spot because he seems to be around the pile on almost every play. Within two weeks I wouldnt be surprised to see Williams in FT at the FS position or possibly move to SS and they slide Wilson over. Either way, the guy is too good to be taken out of the game. He is by far their biggest playmaker and will still produce if they ever move him. Doubtful they will though.
