Gibril Wilson signs with the Dolphins... (1 Viewer)

how can the Dolphins sign Wilson if free agency hasn't started?

Has something to do with the fact that he was released, as opposed to simply letting his contract expire. I believe the contracts expire at midnight, which is why other free agents cannot be pursued until then.

Good for Wilson. At least he's out of the AFC West.
Signed with the Dolphin cause he was sick of tackling Ronnie Brown:http://media.photobucket.com/image/ronnie%...9115863.gif?o=4
Great run, but that wasn't Wilson.
Yeah - my bad - it's from 2007 when Wilson was a Giant.Just checked out some Raider boards and they are not happy the team cut Gibril in the 1st place.
They should cheer up, at least they still have the other big money FA they signed last year in Walker.

Not at all. He isn't a Pro Bowler by any stretch, but he'll do well in Miami. I didn't want to see him leave. :moneybag:

I hope Al finally learns from all those FA mistakes....eh, nevermind.

“You always learn by experience, but I don’t believe in consistency. I don’t believe that you [change] because you failed one year, that you can’t succeed in the next year.”Raiders owner Al Davis discussing free agency. link

The signing of Wilson has me wondering where Yeremiah Bell will now end up. Bell put up very good numbers in 2008.
Bell agrees to 4-year deal with DolphinsYeremiah Bell not only will remain with the Dolphins in 2009. He's remaining as their starting strong safety.

Bell just agreed to terms on a 4-year deal worth $20 million. Of that $20 million a whopping $10 million is guaranteed.

Bell stays at SS

Wilson will be the FS

Very likely will hurt the value of both guys.

Hmmm could, but the fact he is staying in the box will create enough tkl opps and the fact wilson is there should also provide big play opp for both guys . IF anything hurts wilsons numbers Much more then bell.

That being said, draft selections #25, #44, and #56 just got a whole lot more interesting... will they reach for Larry English in the first or trade down and hope he falls? Or even trade up for a top CB?
