Gifts to self in your 40's (1 Viewer)

Any ideas? I am a sports/home theater/tech guy. I'm looking for what to tell my wife to get me. I have the wonderful problem of having no needs that come to mind. But I am thinking about sports online subscriptions, for example I love NFL Gamepass and I am considering signing up for Sirius XM. Any other suggestions? I live outside the US but can access most content via the Internet.

My wife got me the MLB Extra Innings Package for my 40th birthday. So I am right there with you. Nothing you need, but something you want.

I think complete collections of tv series make great gifts. They're not cheap but not crazy expensive either. When you consider run time the value is generally pretty good. I love getting pulled into a good series and binge watching the hell out of it.

In that case, just tell her to get you a newsgroup subscription. You have all the shows you could want and you can save a bunch of money for the whores and party drugs.

I struggle with this constantly and my birthday is in a few weeks. I would much rather have her save the dough and put it to the outdoor kitchen I want, but the reality is she will always get me something.

How about a paid guy trip? I'm due to go to Bandon early next year so maybe that or a dive trip. Those are two activities that I love, but are not family-oriented. If it is a gift, perhaps I won't feel as guilty for taking off for an extended weekend.

Or maybe another ####### sweater.

It's been probably 10 years since my wife bought me something. I'll occasionally get her something but if we want it, we buy it. We'd much rather save it on something for the house or a vacation.

This is pretty much exactly what I would say. Would rather put money to something like home improvement or big trip.

This year she got me a golf weekend (not Brandon quality but nice) and a rental house nearby. That was pretty great.

I was thinking about nba dynasty DVDs, but do they have that online for download somewhere? Seems like an online subscription would be better than dvd. Want to relive knicks battles with heat, Pacers, etc

He's in his 40's not 60's. :coffee:
Wouldn't it still give him wood longer. We're talking about an all nighter here.
I am turning 40 in Nov, I can knock one out and still have an all nighter.
Really? Have a lot of all nighters do ya? Look at you

You act like I said I can still run a 4.4, or dunk?

ETA: Just asked my wife and she said no. In my defense she can't stay up that late to judge, so let's call it a tie.

Since you somewhat mentioned you don't 'need' a gift as such, why don't you ask your wife to get you something that you both can enjoy together? Like a holiday sort of gift. I bet that would be a nicer way to celebrate your birthday!

Same here.By "all-nighter" we're talking about sleep, right?

Yup. A hefty dose of party drugs followed by an 8 hour nap.

Jailbroken Apple TV
What does this give you over standard Apple TV?
Eliminates the need for any Netflix, Hulu, whatever.

Everything is out there, and it's all free There are a ton of apps out there, and there's a little learning curve to download the apps and such, but if someone is serious about watching movies/TV, I think it's pretty must a must have.

Paying 50 bucks extra a month for cable when one of these is 250 on eBay makes no sense.

We talking legal apple approved apps or something like those shady .eu sites I can find on the computer? I have no moral issues here, just trying to understand what you are talking about.
