Ginn Jr won't be lifting or running at the NFL Scouting Combine (1 Viewer)

Ted Ginn Jr. won't be running or lifting at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"Right now, I'm just going to weigh in, get my height measured, and take care of things like that," Ginn said. Ginn has been training for six weeks, but may not be fully recovered from a sprained left foot suffered while celebrating in the National Championship. He hopes to be ready for Ohio State's Pro Day on March 8.

Does this hurt his draft stock? Will he drop? I'm guessing it won't. Teams that are interested in Ginn will have his foot examined with a fine tooth comb, and they arleady know how fast he is. So, if he checks out physically, teams will still consider Ginn Jr the same player he was before the injury. Then again, any negative comments from team physicians can certainly throw up the red flag to other teams and he could drop in the draft. Having said that, it was just a sprain and shouldn't affect his draft value.

Sounds like he's getting good advice and being proactive about his draft stock. He shouldn't run unless he's 100%.

nothing shocking here. top skill prospects seldom workout at the combine. calvin & jarrett will probably sit out the combine too.

That's true, but they aren't injured. At the very least he will have to satisfy team physicals, but like I said, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Takes the wind out of the sails of the ones saying he was faking his injury in the BCS game. Some had speculated that he wasn't injured enough to not play and that he was putting his NFL career first.

He's going to be the 2nd WR taken barring the unexpected (4.4 out of Jarrett, for example). No need to push it at this point.

Calvin has nothing to gain by working out - he's the first WR drafted if he just remains alive. With Jarrett, it depends upon how his speed training has gone. If he feels like he can come up with a good 40 time, then he'll do it to raise his stock; if not, he won't run so as to avoid confirming everyone's greatest fear about him.
