On a given day, you have to give up one of the following:  your phone/internet or food.

You can either be without your phone/internet for an entire day or you can choose to eat no food (can only drink water) for an entire day.  Which would you choose?

Yeah on a day off going without phone and internet wouldn't be difficult for me. I'd probably just read or do something outdoors

i could either pretty easily.

Phone would be easier.  On a day off I usually leave my phone on the counter most of the time anyway

I could basically watch TV or Xbox

At this very current period of time the fasting for a day would help me against Otis so that.

Normally, it'd be a tough call, honestly. Depends on present workload at work.

There've been days ... mostly weekends ... when I just haven't eaten anything.

I don't think there's been a day recently where I haven't used my phone/internet.

Either one, really.

Food. Easily. I could use a fasting day actually. Have gained a few lbs over the last couple of months.

Follow up question:  My smart tv has netflix, hulu, and Amazon Prime(using wireless wifi).  Does that count?

It doesn't really matter though.  I would give up phone/internet, easily.  I don't have social media on my phone, so it wouldn't be too hard.

I saw this(ironically, on social media) recently, and it really struck a chord with me:  Mobile phone: It may bring you closer to those far away, but it takes you away from those sitting right next to you.

Food for thought...

Now if it was a day where I was going to be playing golf or on vacation then I may go without the phone.

It's certainly interesting how we're reforming and reframing our relationships now that access to long-distance communication is so cheap and prevalent.

I have no opinion. Totally dependent upon what the plan for the day was.  It wouldn't be an issue doing either.

Given how many food allergies I have I've given up pretty much everything anyway so give me a sweet phone and a gigabit connection

I'd give up food for a day easily to keep Internet. Can throw my phone in with the food too and I wouldn't  miss a beat. I hardly ever use phone for Internet access and I semi routinely go a day without food. Just not much appetite. Last week I didn't eat for almost 2 days (finally did late evening of second day).  Food generally just doesn't interest me; if I could take a pill each day and never have to bother with food again I'd be all over it.

Internet on the other hand...I have a tough time going without it. I'd feel like I was cut off from events.

You can have coffee.
I've effectively given up my phone on camping trips.  I've also fasted for colonoscopy prep.  Based on my limited experience, I'd give up Internet but this probably has something to do with all the ####ting.

From the original question, anything in your smart tv that needs the internet would not count.

This question would have been harder for me if it was all electronics (no tv, video games, internet etc etc).

So do people really not occasionally take a vacation where they put their phone away for at least a day or go someone where spotty to no reception?  I know some people do the intermittent fasting but I think you have problems if you occasionally can't put the phone away for a day.
