we had a fire in our building in 2010 and were out for a year. the first few months we were literally bouncing from spot to spot- including our 3yo son and two cats. my stress level was through the roof... except it was the roof that caught fire. amazing the amount of unbelievable kindness I saw (cabbies not charging for some rides to the burned out spot, computer guy fixing my water damaged laptop for free, drycleaner doing a massive amount for free, etc), but also people doing their utmost to turn the screw on a family obviously in dire straights and desperate. but the feeling when we finally moved back in... amazing. moral of the story-I highly recommend not having your home catch fire.

It's gonna be a gorgeous day here for late November - 60 & sunny. This time last year, we had 8" of snow on the ground.
Update On Uruk's Teams: Holiday Edition
Orioles: of their big 4 FAs, they re-signed the one I wanted to keep the least
Ravens: :X Their best player not on IR is a G
Terps football: :X They have no coach & got beaten by 20 at home.....to Indiana
Terps hoops: 4-0 with 3 scares. Last night, they played about as well as they can. I think they're overrated right now, but have a chance to be really good.

@ Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
48" high 7 y.o. gets blocked out every year. This year she turned to me & said "See you after the parade" then disappeared into a sea of legs.
She's up on the barricade. I'm 7 rows back. Not totally freaking out. At all. No really.
