10th anniversary of my dad's death today.  Drinking myself to sleep with BILs scotch at in-laws. 

Worst moment of my life getting that news via voice mail as I stepped off the plane to come here 10 years ago. 

I would stab cancer in the face right now if I could. 

 
My second attempt at Pastrami turned out much better. Brined a brisket for a week, then rubbed heavily with Pepper, Coriander, and half dozen other spices and slow smoked for eight hours, then refrigerated for 8 hours and finally steamed a couple hours to finish it off.

Its recommended to refrigerate two days after putting on the dry rub, but I wanted a Reuben tonight. I also had a trip tip in the brine, so I gave it a rub and will let it stay on a couple days in the fridge and see if/how much that helped.

My Russian dressing is really good for these andwiches,also for boiled shrimp or salad dressing:

2 cups good mayo
1 T sweet relish
2 T Horseradish
3 diced jalapenos
3T Siracha
3 T finely minced onion
1 T Mustard

Just stir it all together

High 70s here in Tampa.  About to make some peppermint bark (2 kinds) and prep for dinner.  Maybe go for a run later.

Happy Christmas and merry New Year GMTAN.  It's been great meeting some of you IRL.  Hope that continues in 2017.

Merry Christmas. Got about 4 hours sleep and have a bunch of family coming over in 4 hours.  Think I'll just start drinking now and fall asleep watching steelers/ravens

Oh and I'm making some sort of Liverwurst dip that someone posted somewhere

Very full ...wife made the magic marshallow puffs, I made the sausage/cheese/egg/french toast casserole.  

Making bacon wrapped scallops with water chestnuts for dinner.  

Kids are headed to Verizon to activate/transfer stuff to their new phones.  Got them Mophies to go with the phones so they aren't as likely to run out of charge.

ETA:  A little down.  In our fake football championship and was looking good through half time yesterday - Russ Wilson's 2nd half takes him to almost 40 pts.  I am alive but doesn't look good.   :kicksrock:

I have no idea wtf you people are talking about, but I've been drunk for most of the last 48 hours.
