Could one of you fancy city-folk explain to me the advantage of using a ZipCar over just renting a car?  (I've read the website that claims things like "no long lines!" and other non-convincing arguments.)  Serious, not snarky, request - I need to know.
It all depends on the situation and location of the cars near you or where you planning to use it.  I used ZipCar for several years in Chicago instead of owning.  First off, there's a one-time $75 sign up fee that turns into an annual fee.  Secondly, the whole program is based on community so there are some factors at play.  Cleanliness of the car when you pick it up.  They ZipCar crews only go around and clean cars once every week or two.  So you can sometimes get a car that has pet hair or was left a mess by a previous driver.  The other factor when dealing with the community is making sure drivers with the previous time slot return it on time.   I've had one or two instances both in Chicago and New York where I NEEDED the car and the previous driver did not return it or was running late.  There are supposedly penalties for this and potential loss of membership if you do it multiple times.

The other thing to consider is length of the reservation.  If you are doing short trips less than 5 or 6 hours than it works out pretty good financially.  If you are renting it for a day or more than it starts to add up and there are limits on mileage for the day as well unlike rental cars where you normally have unlimited miles.

If you guys don't mind, I'm going to take a moment and revel in the fact that....

I haven't read the thread, but I also enjoy the title of the "Bigger Goober" thread.

Local station plays old Kasey Kasem countdowns every Sunday.  Today was top 50 songs of 1979.  Man what a great year for music.

Shut up Tanner

Did his wife have him killed and buried in Norway?

West Coast dudes and dudette (Hi K4!),

I need to be a less terrible husband and take my lovely and super long-suffering wife on a long weekend away in the next 3 months...willing to fly within reason if necessary.  San Diego?  Vancouver?  Victoria?  Seattle?  Super at a loss...done PDX, done Seattle a LONG time ago and the traffic is butt-rape bad. Did San Diego with our son, which means Zoo and LegoLand.  Frisco? I don't know.  HALP!  Did Victoria 17 years ago...literally.  Worth a return?

Hey GB, what kinds of things are you looking to do during this weekend (the PG-rated stuff, I mean)?

World baseball classic IMO. St Patrick's weekend in SD and LA

We are doing a couples trip to Seattle over Memorial Day weekend. What's the weather usually like then? Any festivals or anything at that time?

The standard answer in the past is that summer here doesn't start until beginning of July, but in 2014 and 2015 this was definitely not the case and Memorial Day weekends were spectacular - sunny and beautiful thought probably chilly for you in the high 70s to low 80s.  Last year, however, was the suck on weather generally - though Memorial Day weekend turned out OK (not rainy) if a bit chillier (mid-60s).

In other words,

I think the big folk music festival goes on that weekend but have not gone to it.  I wouldn't really be looking for a festival when there's so much else to do around here.

ETA:  This.  Actually looks kind of cool.  Not folk music, really.

ETA2:  You'll also need to pen in the cornhole with roverfish, Redmond Longhorn, 'ninja, Britney Spears and me.
