I'm watching "The Planets" on science channel. They're talking about all the exoplanets in our galaxy that keppler has found.

If I were high right now I would be on the verge of a mental breakdown. This #### so trip I feel like I'm getting high just watching it.
can't even watch these kinds of shows because they are too difficult to conceptualize and understand for me

Any of you Texas types (or others) have ideas of what I can do in San Antonio in mid-November with a 72-year-old Christian teetotaler?

No, I haven't left Mr krista for someone more exciting; I'm talking about my stepmother.

So, winter in Texas with a super pious, but non-drinking, septuagenarian?

There's always guns.  And church.  Plenty of both of those to go around in Texas (actually willing to wager there is a church about guns if you ask around).

So movie producers can't sleep with starlets anymore? That's a Hollywood caricature I kind of thought might be okay. Not drugged or cornered in a hotel room, but a free market exchange of favors for favors.

I don't know if I'll ever even get business cards printed.

In Houston starting Friday.  FEMA work 10-14 hours a day for 2 weeks.  Time and a half over 40 plus per diem.  Yay.
In heading to Galveston Thursday night. Will be driving back through Houston probably Saturday. Meet at a bar To  watch Astros?

Not from there but I go there 2-3 times/yr on biz.

Alamo is obvious. Spurs b-ball game, Riverwalk, lots of great restaurants all over town, zoo, sea world, six flags, art museum, drive through Hill country or head to Port Aransas

If I can.  PM me.  It’s a training day so probably not a 12-14 hour day (I hope).  Staying out near Katy down the road from Topgolf.

There’s a Catholic Church on the Riverwalk that had a laser show last time I was there.

I don't know a ton about San Antonio. I have a friend that lives there and was briefly through for a weekend for his wedding. Tons and tons of strip malls.

I was told the Alamo is more of a tourist trap than anything and disappointing. Riverwalk seems to be the most popular attraction.

While perusing Frommers for vacation ideas, I did find this article specifically about what to do on a short trip to San Antonio: http://www.frommers.com/slideshows/848104-what-to-do-in-san-antonio-if-you-don-t-have-much-time

Thanks for the ideas.  She actually loves roller coasters, though I think we’ll skip it on this trip. I’ll check on a Spurs game - hadn’t thought of that and she’d like it!

I am going to make a steak sandwich for dinner tonight.  I bought flank steak, which I will season with kosher salt, pepper and a little onion powder and a little garlic powder and will cook it medium rare.  I got some fresh bread from the bakery and will make garlic bread and some shallots, which I will either fry or caramelize.  Slice the steak and put it on the garlic bread along with fried shallots.  I am also thinking about making shallot and bacon gravy to put on there too, but I got a roast beef sandwich the other day from a great deli a few blocks away and still have some of the gravy in a container so I think I will use that tonight since it's much easier.  I think I just drooled on my keyboard...

For all the accoutrements you have, maybe should have gone for a strip or a ribeye

Hmm, maybe if I got them for my dogs, they'd stop pooping in my office when it's raining and they are too big a ####### to use the doggy door and go outside

My dogs loved to play with the towel I would use to dry them off when we got home and it was raining.  It can be fun for the dogs and you don't waste money on those things.  Also, no, dogs don't need a raincoat.

Because they use umbrellas?

It's just water.  They will be fine if they get wet.  So will you, especially if you know where your towel is.  If you want to survive out there, you've got to know where your towel is.
Especially after Earth is destroyed to make way for a hyperspace bypass.

Dog in surgery. GI blockage - looks like she swallowed something cloth (guessing a sock.)

Man, I hate people but dogs get me right in the feels.  Just the sweetest dog I've ever known.  I don't know what I'd do without her.  Hopefully don't have to find out today.
