GM's thread about nothing (29 Viewers)

I continued my walk of 6 miles today despite it being 6 degrees with the windchill and I personally think it was colder but damn it felt good. I also got to meet a cop that always waves to me. His main job seems to be shooting radar everywhere around my neighborhood. He introduced himself by his nickname and not Office #########. It's good to make these kind of friends.

Angrywife and I are going to an event tonight so our frequently intoxicated construction superintendent neighbor will be watching the boys. What could possibly go wrong?
Can't be much different from their dad watching them, can it?
I suppose this assumes you occasionally let their dad watch them. :o
You just answered your own post?I think you've had enough apple juice.
Already on to wine. Should have opened something cheaper, though. This is going to be a waste. :excited:

So I openend up a Two Hearted Ale and started attaching the smoker box to the side of the grill. The wife and daughter left to go see the inlaws. Gonna be gone all day.I get most of the smoker assembled and realize there are two nuts that are going to be a ##### to get to to tighten. time for another beer first. After as much time as assembly of the whole damn thing should have taken me and some skin on the knuckles being shredded (and my ### calling GM when I went to put my phone away), I got them both tightened. This was the inspiration for a neew show I'd like to see on TV. Screw Undercover Boss. I want to see CEOs of companies assemble the products they make with no help from anybody. But the guy who designed the ####### thing has to stand there and explain why he put the bolt in a spot that's impossible to ge to, along with anything else that doesn't make a lick of damn sense.
I read this and the only thing I could think of is "soo, Sac's wife doesn't allow him to drink beer".Good for you, GB. Enjoy.

Making crock pot hot sauce chicken tonight and tomorrow. 14 freaking hours. Mmmmmm....... Gonna celebrate with a nice Sav Blanc and a lambic finisher. :banned:

Mrs. S enjoys pretty much anything boozy, and she doesn't care much what I do. This is much more a rare opportunit to be home alone all day kind of thing.Probably should have taken the dog running before the booze, though.

So, now I'm sitting here typing on the innerwebs...... drinking apple juice and Captain Morgan's.
Maybe get some pineapple juice. Its stickier so that it adheres to the pork better and pineapple compliments the pork flavor really well.it also tastes a lot better mixed with rum. I particularly like it with Myer's black.

Looking for a little advice here...could probably start my own thread, but could likely be handled in here. Got the twins' 1YO bday party coming up next month. Sending out 35 invites (she's got a huge family), so once you factor in spouses and kids, I'm expecting around 75ish people at my house for a 2 hour party (11-1). We'll be serving lunch, so I'm going to be cooking to keep the costs low vs. ordering out. Originally I was going to keep it simple...burgers and hot dogs, but a buddy of mine pointed out that he did this for his kids' party and he was constantly cooking, so he missed a bunch of stuff. I don't want to miss anything, but obviously still need to keep the guests happy. Any thoughts here on food?I was thinking making a big thing of pulled pork which is very easy, and can be done in the crockpot (hehe) early that morning...so that frees up a bunch of time. But for variety, I need one or 2 more entree options. Think I'm still going to roll with hot dogs for the kids, b/c I can do that on the stove really quick.Anything? :thanks:
i did the burgers, chicken, hot dogs thing for my first daughters 1 yr party. sucked. a lot.definitely do something that is ready when folks arrive and is serve your own. pulled pork from a crockpot sounds spot on

Hanging out at the grill with a beer sounds like the jackpot to me. :shrug:Pulled pork would work...or ribs...could do sloppy joes in another crock to have variety from the pulled p if you wanted. Can make some slaw and beans ahead of time.

So, I'm supposed to talk with a girl later (after I drop my daughter off at her mom's) that messaged me from an online dating site. In a very odd twist, she's actually a couple years older than me. I'm not against dating girls older than me, but for whatever reason I typically end up younger. In some of her pictures she looks smoking hot. Others you can see a bit of age coming through. But she's 5'5" and has a tight body with some good curves. Plus some of her pics look pretty silly, so I think once she's comfortable, she would be a ton of fun. (My link)
I'm 39. I used to think signs of age were a turn-off too, but at some point, when you see an aging woman as cute and as fit and as lively as the one you posted, you really come to regard them. Quite remarkable and I find myself really admiring an attractive 40ish gal who's made it through the grind this long and still looks good. It's tough....I'm no trip to Hollywood myself at 39, though I wasn't a trip to Branson at 21 either.
Oh, and thanks to CC's FB work, I heard from Tuesday girl again. it looks like I'll be seeing her again sometime soon-ish. She seems pretty fun and we've got a fair amount in common, so conversation is easy. I need to make sure that she doesn't get too attached and realizes that I'm just looking for some fun. I think she understands that now, but could see it becoming an issue if I see her too often. the first date was pretty fun and random and I still have her belt at my place. I think the $ move here is to forget to bring the belt to the next date so she has to come back to get it. (Stripes)
I almost hate doing this, but somebody will at some point if they haven't already and I figure I'm buzzed enough to do this as best I see it:3

1

4

2

5

#5 is probably a top pick for some, but she frightens me. I like Stripes, but her odd look/smile is throwing me off. 3 benefits from only having a portion of her person in the shot. 1 and 4 I just tend to like in the looks dept. But GOOD LUCK!

And then there is dumb girl. I've been chatting with her a bit but our schedules haven't matched up yet. She says she doesn't put out until the 5th date, which will probably be above my tolerance to handle her inane babble (omg, don't make fun of me bcuz I like the kardashians). But she also seems like she has a fun side that could make for some interesting dates. My goal here is to go out on a date with her where she picks me up and pays for dinner. I had set up a date with her once and texted to cancel because I felt like going out with my friends instead because I had a crazy day (last sat when I moved the ex out). She ended up being the one that was all apologetic because she was sorry I had a rough day, etc. (She's quite tall)
WOW! I like this one the most. If you don't want her, I'll fire up my divorce manager and move to Kentucky or Idaho or Dayton or wherever it is you live...somewhere midwestish.

We had a similar number at our Super Bowl party last year, and Mr. krista made a big variety of Mexican stuff. You wouldn't have to go as insane as he did, but you could just make a few different taco fillings (maybe a shrimp, a beef, and a chorizo?) and have warm tortillas (keep them in tortilla warmers), a ton of toppings, sauces, etc. You can put those in a couple of buffet pans with sterno and keep it warm for a long time. He also made tamales and kept them warm similarly, if that's more your style. And guac. And ceviche. And...well, maybe just stick with the tacos.
This. The more you do before hand, the better. You'll be buys regardless, but have everything ready and out before hand, then just facilitate. You can also have trays of cut up sausage, cheese and crackers + a veggie tray....people love to snack on those at parties. Deviled eggs are also a fun thing to serve...especially with some fresh bacon placed on top. Yum....You can also put out some shrimp. I've got a simple, fun, easy shrimp recipe for you....5-10 minutes total prep/cook time and an easy dish to leave out over ice and let people eat over the course of the party. Just make things available, you don't need to keep churning out dogs/burgers or anything more.

Here's to hoping that similar results come from my recent FB work, and a hottie 4th grader corners SLB Jr. behind a willow tree and slobbers him something magical. How great would it be if he comes home all whimpering and confused, and poor Bob thinks he's been bullied again. So like a good dad he gets down on one knee and gets his son to talk about it and when junior finally opens his mouth he tells Bob some older girl tickled his tongue with her tongue?

You have to picture Bob's face at that moment. Can't see it? It looks like this.
What the......

For the first time in a while I got really drunk last night, just me and a buddy from work, no women involved just a night filled with beer, Jack Daniels and a 2AM visit to the drive thru at McDonalds. Somehow one of challenged the other to a chicken McNugget eating contest so we got 2 separate 20 piece chicken nugget orders. I tapped out after 14 nuggets. My sphincter has been performing a jihad on the toilet today.By casting multiple lines into the ocean of romance, I may have created an issue. This Monday night is the Chamber "Fun at 5" networking thingy. 22 YO is attending the event and is also attending the "Fun at 7" which will take place in my bedroom later. For this past week I've had a little email flirting thing going on with Hot Co-worker and she has pretty much clearly been hinting that she wants to go out for a drink with me. This morning Hot Co-worker texted me and said she was going to the Fun at 5 and asked if I was going, I said yes and she said she was looking forward to seeing me there. I really never thought I had a shot with her so I'm excited about that but then I realized this means both her and the 22 YO will be at this event and I'm definitely leaving with the 22 YO. A few minutes later I get a text from 22 YO saying "looking forward to Fun at 5 Monday, but REALLY looking forward to Fun at 7" (she also included one those girly wink things that WOZ is a proponate of) And then before I finish reading that I get a text from Hot Co-worker saying "can't wait for Fun at 5, I'm not gonna know anyone there so you better not ignore me all night" (she included a smilie face and I'm sure WOZ is a fan of that as well) All of this pretty much guarantees that my plan of action will be to slap on my Hock Meng Tay name tag and drink heavily and see what happens.
All my life I always sorta wondered but never really asked what the Chamber of Commerce does. I just assumed is was churchy and stuffy and not at all for me. I figured it was full of guys in Shriners Hats and people who eat a lot of jello. But man....now I feel like I wasted about 19 years of prime, fertile, ripe hunting. FML.Homer's route to tang I understand. Get 'em wasted on my home field and take advantage of any and all openings. Guster's path to its not pee I get too. A little online action mixed in with some random happenstance. But Gadzooks? He's like the grand PuBah of the Chamber Events and gets more tail than a straight Ryan Secrest. He doesn't even really have to try.

lol at Divorce Manager
Whoops, meant lawyer. :lmao: I've actually become social friends with my divorce attorney. We've gone out boozing and to the scrip clubs a few times. Solid guy.
Would be pretty sweet if you just hired him full time.
Even cooler would be if he offered to pick up a round of drinks once in a blue moon. Come on, Lionel Hutz...I DID stroke you a nice check a few years back and you know I'm a marital risk.

You can also put out some shrimp. I've got a simple, fun, easy shrimp recipe for you....5-10 minutes total prep/cook time and an easy dish to leave out over ice and let people eat over the course of the party.
Out with it, Julia.
Pick up a pound or two of shrimp. White shrimp, fresh shrimp, frozen shrimp....just make sure they are unpeeled. If frozen, just take 'em home and run some water on 'em/thaw 'em out.Pour two beers into a nice sized sauce pan. Add a liberal, healthy dose of Tony's or Old Bay (Tiger, will use Tony's, you'll probably use Old Bay). Stir around. Add a bay leaf or two. Maybe a splash of garlic powder. Bring this to a boil. Dump the shrimp into the pan and stir it up. Bring it back to a boil, shut off the heat and cover for about a minute. Total cook time should be 3-5 minutes tops so the shrimp is pink all over. Drain in a colander (sp?) and try to shake out the moisture. Depending on the crowd, you can arrange them on or off ice. If people will mow them down, no need. Serve with a little cocktail sauce, let others peel 'em. I've never failed to impress with this one. You can toy around with the beers, but I like a Red Stripe or something fun like that. Bud works, PBR, Becks.....just don't use those fancy beers Furley, Hack and Fat Max love and admire.

This is brilliant. I'd like to murder every Swedish person not named Charv for Ikea's early 2000 Gordian Knot Furniture Line.
