GM's thread about nothing (44 Viewers)

Soccer team was down 3-0. Fought like braves to lose 4-3, including a missed PK by our otherwise sure-footed Harry Potter clone with longer hair and more girlish features. I did a summersalt onto the field when he missed. I don't know.

Ran to my car, Ducks down 7-3! Crap! UPSET CITY!

My god they score fast. On to the other game of the day...
Sorry GB. Dylan's team is like the Bad News Bears of soccer to 4-3 so pretty good IMO. Of course Dylan has the fall down, grab your knee like you are going to die, then run off the field after the whistle is blown down to a science.

Really just came here to post that I just found a check for $68 from a football pool I won last year in my garage. :excited:

So........my sister and her BF went to Nevada in Aug so he could race his bike on the salt flats and hit 200MPH. Apparently while they were there, he got arrested for a DUI and domestic battery. This on the heels of him throwing her iPhone against the wall. Also on the heels of him getting in a fight downtown against two Russian dudes who had the audacity to give my sister the bird after she ran a red light.

Neat.

There's a guy sitting two over from me in biz class on this flight and I'm pretty sure he's a pro athlete. I'm guessing football player. Maybe he's a high level collegiate athlete turning pro. Is it bad that when I see a jacked up, well dressed black guy I assume he's an athlete? He's with an older big fat black guy who I assume is either dad or coach or the like; I wish I were better with faces maybe I would recognize him. He can't be a college player because it's game day. I assumed NFL, but then again we're flying to Austin, and WTF would they be flying to Austin for.

By the way :hey: to my Austin GBs. Anyone in town tonight and want to meet me for a beer or eleven? TIA

God, that College Football thread is horrible. How do you guys go in there and keep your sanity?(ok, don't answer that)

I'm out of that abortion forever or til Maryland is playing for the national championship - so, forever.

Ask him if he's Julian Edelman. That should break the ice.

Otis - thanks for the heads up. I'm going to a wedding out in dripping springs or else id make it. How long are you here? In to next week possibly?

Jesus, GM - Oregon's offense is like a video game. How long before they miss Chip Kelly, if at all?
Well, the thing is Chip left the cupboards completely full of talent. Chip never once touched the defense in his time there, but he sure could help recruit some of the best talent to play that side of the ball. So the current staff - which is much of the same staff - is playing with a loaded deck. But will they continue to recruit well? I don't know.

The other thing I don't know is how well they will do in BIG games. I'd argue that Chip was not great in BIG games.

- 2009, his first game as a head coach, he opens up on the road at Boise State and got dominated. That was the infamous Blount Punch game.

- 2010 Rose Bowl, he was outclassed and outcoached by Sweatervest and though the game was a fumble away from going the Ducks way, it was a clear loss to Pryor and co.

- 2011 national title game, they could not run the ball to save their life. Auburn dominated the line of scrimmage and though it was only a 3 point game, Auburn outplayed them.

- 2011, they open in Jerryworld vs LSU. The game was much closer than the final score and Honey Badger turned the tide sevearl times, but at the end of the day, LSU dominated the line of scrimmage and won the game.

- 2012 they are at home against Stanford with a new QB and all the momentum in the world. Because of Chip's impulsive nature, they squander opportunities and turn down easy field goals for more points. It costs them. His lack of faith in the kicking game cost them a shot at the national title game.

So...how will their new guy fare in BIG games? Time will tell. The Washington game scares me most as it's in Seattle and they are tough to beat there.

The coach on their staff I think has a bright future in the biz is former Nebraska QB Scott Frost, current OC for the Ducks. He's a young rising star who I think will eventually be a HC somewhere.

Tl;dr

Hey good buddy. I'm in for 2-3 nights, but will have some client and work stuff other nights. May possibly be around for stuff Tuesday night.

I'm back next Sunday night for a couple of days as well.

It's ####### 99 degrees down here? #######it, why the hell does ANYONE live in Texas. NY finally just hit a patch of wonderful Fall weather. 70 degrees and no humidity, sunny, blue blue skies, and in the 50s at night. The second that happens I have to get on a ####### jet to hicksville where a bunch of gypsies live out in the middle of the ####### desert.

Can we talk about the thread discussing someone's daughter giving head and getting double-railed and how Joe & Co. haven't nuked into the ether the thread and all associated with it? It's a different world in here these days...

I would have stopped it immediately.

Let me know if lunch or a drink right after fits the plan. I don't really go out during the week but would be glad to take meet up for lunch as I'm sure Bentley, kev, and cos would.

Jesus - never saw that thread til now. I'm not even a father (though I did help raise a step-daughter), but that's a really bad thread.

I think my only open window, sadly, is going to be tonight (late) or Monday night (not Tuesday night). MNF bishes????

I saw there was a UT game today and I considered paging Brentley to see if I could meet up with his tailgate and watch the game, as I've never had a serious southernerd college football experience. But then I remembered that Bent is a sonofabish and concluded I'm better off catching up on Breaking Bad "with" my wife (streaming at the same time.. "Ready.. ok press play..... NOW")

Man, it sure doesn't take long to get 30+ pages behind in this thread...

Hey SLB:

Sounds like you're having a tough time lately so I'd like to buy you a beer. My girlfriend and I are going to be in St. Louis from 9/19 - 9/23 visiting my best friend and his wife. I'm not sure exactly where they live anymore, but I don't think it's too far from whatever the big hospital is downtown as that's where his wife works. Also, I'm sure over the course of the weekend we'll be all over the place.

GM can vouch that we're mostly respectable people. He definitely did not end up in a 55-gallon drum when we met for drinks out in Portland. I promise we won't poison and skin you. This meetup would probably be a little easier, too, considering my girlfriend's entire family won't be with us this time.

Anyway, if you'd like to grab a beer with us at some point your first one is on me. Looking forward to getting back to your fine city. I visited once when my buddy first moved there and we had a blast. I fuzzily remember spending a month in a vodka bar called, I think, Sub Zero, one night.
Yup, great dude, awesome lady friend. Totally out-kicked his coverage.
Right. This is the perfect time for SLB to be entertaining "unknown" women.
:lmao: :lmao: Yes, this would be ungood. I reall appreciate the offer GB but I doubt it. I'm going to the Rams game on the 19th, my son has an appointment with a shrink the 20th at 5:30 and the 21st is Mrs. SLB's birthday. But, you never know. It all depends on what she would like to do on her birthday. Going out to dinner downtown isn't totally out of the question. Give me a couple of days to make her hate me and not care if I'm cheating.
She'd probably get one look at us Michigan guys and realize you're the best thing that's ever happened to her. No worries man, just figured we'd throw it out there as long as we were gonna be in town, and of course Mrs. SLB would be invited too.
I'm trying. Saturday is out because we can't find a sitter unless our last call goes through. Looking for one for Friday now. :magic:

Even I don't hate Apple that much.

Took my sons to the local HS football game tonight. Anybody wearing a toga got in free. It was a scene, man. I took a flask with me thinking I might have a chance to mix a small cocktail, but after running into every kid I ever coached over the last 5 years and all their parents, I thought better of having whiskey breath.

So put me in the stone cold sober camp. Also the "out of weed" camp. This "Dr. Greenthumb" I've been using lately is about as reliable as an Astros' relief pitcher. Would love a night of knock out, but have to coach soccer bright and early. Considering my team got clobbered 4-1 last week, I should just get hammered and let Hazel coach the team.
Going to put you in the #### camp

BRB gotta go threaten his life and his family's safety on FB.

Longhorn game about to kick off. Starting with the 18-year-old Flor de Cana (krista>hi), but if this thing goes south, I will switch to absinthe quickly. Won't waste the good stuff on a crappy team.

This didn't really clear up my confusion.

JK actually a huge Brentfan. I'm sure he's probably a sonofabish, but I'm a fan.

We've arrived at Andy's. Mayorga and our lawyer Marlon are not here because Mayorga got in a fight with his friends and they left him in the middle of town so Marlon went to get him. :lmao:

And as I typed that, Mayorga arrived. He bowed when shaking my hand and called Mr krista "baby". Now he's yelling "cerveza" over and over.

Yeah, that's rotten.

I'm lucky I've got a BIL who worships my sister. I feel lucky not because I'd have to mess him up if it was different, but rather because she'd stuff his ### in a thimble if he ever raised a hand to her. I don't feel like having to walk her through a legal defense.

I can already tell this is going to be an interesting evening.

We might even lay odds on you having to leave the country because of deportation proceedings rather than by choice.
