A semi-friend's band is playing at a dive bar exactly 1 mile from my place. I'm 68% shammered and bored. So tempted to clean myself up and hike down there. No real hanky-panky but bored as freak. It would probably take me 20 mins to walk there and listen to some pretty decent bar-band music and play some grab ### with trailertrash sloots. I should really be talked out of this.

ETA: said bar only accepts cash which I have none. Would have to make some sort of withdrawl along the way. God, I hate being cool.

Over halfway through a 12er of Stone Top-O-The-Line. Just rounded out one of the most pointless weeks of my life workwise, not to mention home built chaos that got me all built up just to knock me down, outside of my control of course<FIL is sick>. I have luck enough to keep me alive but everything else I have no choice but to build myself up and wait for the galaxy to knock me back in the dirt through some sort of galactic balancing keeping me in check. Decided to take a chance and throw my resume` out to what I thought would be some good matches, which taking any of these positions would take me out of my very secure and very cush situation, because my days are pointless ### and I thought I was more than a match. Haven't had even a courtesy "thanks for trying", thinking about other states at this point because I am worried that I might have somehow self poisoned. At the same time I am taking on an industry challenge in my field that is proving hard to follow through on due to all the above mentioned pressure. It's a bunch of ####### nonsense that I have no place to justify beyond myself buy it's heavy and I don't like it.Schlzm

1. Family - Condolences. We've all been there and as we all advance in age will be there again. Condolences.

2. Work. Looking is never a bad thing. Maybe the most important thing I've learned in my career. If you've been in one place for a while, chances are your resume is still in an archetype that fits where you were when you started that job. Blow it up and start it over for where you are now. It's easy to fall into ruts with resumes that don't belie what you're bringing to the table.

3. Heavy. Heavy is as heavy as you let it.

2010 and 2013 are still the same engineering generation so they may have tweaked the blindspots but you don't undo fundamental flaws until you have a new engineering.

As you now know, smaller is better in Seattle so some of the first listed midsize sedans feel a bit big here. A big engine is great fun but if I'm honest, I'll never get a lot of chances in Seattle to open it up. Zippiness, handling and comfort in the cabin are most important for me right now.

Job-wise, things are a bit squirrelly now, though maybe not so much in your field. By which I mean that common courtesies seem to have flown out the window, resumes are ignored with impunity, and connections (LinkedIn and the like) seem to mean so much more than qualifications. I say this as someone who hasn't looked for a job through normal means in a very long time, so maybe I'm wrong. IN terms of that, though, I say just keep throwing your resume in there. You might be surprised at jobs you get a nibble on. Also just work your connections like crazy. There are a lot of people around here who can give you much better job advice than I can, even start a thread if you wish to.

Yeah, I might have been reaching with "semi-comfortable". It is not appropriate as a family sedan or anything.

I really do think that Audi would be great. Don't know much about the Mazda but sounds like a good option.

2010 and 2013 are still the same engineering generation so they may have tweaked the blindspots but you don't undo fundamental flaws until you have a new engineering.

As you now know, smaller is better in Seattle so some of the first listed midsize sedans feel a bit big here. A big engine is great fun but if I'm honest, I'll never get a lot of chances in Seattle to open it up. Zippiness, handling and comfort in the cabin are most important for me right now.

Look at the Subaru Impreza WRX. Seriously my favorite car ever--I had three of them in a row. Zippiness out the wazoo, great handling, semi-comfortable, easy to park and if you get the wagon style (no downgrade in zippiness) you can haul some #### around, too.

Seattle actually experiences very little inclement weather as defined by driving. Wet roads is as bad as it gets.

You're lucky. I live in the land of 300+ days of blue skies but when anything outside of that happens it's panic. Not to mention the specific area where I live is commonly subject to foot plus snow. Life is a damn zoo, we've had weeks of 50+ temps but now there is a half inch on my porch.Schlzm
