Remember when I took that wine making class and forgot how to drive?GB, that's just age and not to worry. When I was at Kraft I worked with a great CFO who was 50 at the time (sounds young now, thought he was old then) who told me that our brains only could handle so many bits of information and that as you got older you had to clear out that useless stuff to make room for remembering the more important stuff.I'm starting to get a little freaked out every time I can't immediately remember something. My father has dementia and I'm working on paranoia about it happening to me too.
I used to be able to recall EVERYTHING upon request. I could tell you what page a quote came from in any particular book I'd read; could pull up a snap shot of a blackboard every time I took a test in school; if you told me your birthday when I was 8 years old, I could call it back up when I was 40. None of that is bull ####.
But I'm slipping and am petrified. Cancer scares me, but not near as much as this.
Though in no way true, I liked that explanation. Seriously, don't worry.
Also because I am too lazy to PM you, I wanted to mention that I was thinking earlier today that I wanted to tell you that I constantly get people desperately wanting long-term rentals at Paloma (which I won't do), so there is a ton of demand for people living in Nica who want nice places to rent, if that helped you in your decision-making on expenses/income in buying a place, and presumably the long-termers would be easier in many ways.
Mrs. SLB does this too. I've so ####### had it with ADD.Could someone explain to me how, if Mr. krista is going to the store and asks if we need anything (because I am the only one in the house who could possibly notice if, for instance, we are nearly out of toilet paper or trash bags or whatever), no matter how many items are on the list I give him, he comes back with N-1 items? If it's only two or three items, this still holds true. If I actually write down the list for him, this still holds true. TIA.

Pics?Took the little family to the local Mexican restaurant (La Mex, hi LD) and it went better than anticipated. A couple of margaritas and $12 of chicken on the floor and I made it home without making a scene.

Gorgeous setting. The wife and I got married at the gun battery on ft ebey.Krista - have you done Ebey's landing yet? If not, or if you get back over to Whidbey Island for Deception State Pass in addition to the hike (easy, beautiful) I recommend a stop in Langley and lunch at Prima. Nice upstairs decks looking out at the Sound and very good food. We did this yesterday. I suggest approaching the menu tapas style with appetizers and small plates. Cheese plate, butcher's plate, chicken liver mousse, chorizo and sausage, fried marcona almonds and on and on.
Stuffed myself and loved everything.

LinkWent to the local soccer bar for the Belgium-Russia match. Got really excited when Belgium scored late in the match go match to go ahead 1-0... Until the two very large, well muscled, Russian dudes sitting next to me turned around, glared at me and then went back to speaking to each other in Russian.

The "Rectify" on Cinemax is much better.Anyone here watch "Rectify" on Sundance?
You have to remember that the Asian teams are at a distinct disadvantage. They're probably a couple of years behind most of the other teams when it comes to development. Keep in mind that, as kids, they miss a lot of training time seeing as their moms usually drove them to practice. These Asian teams are totally outclassed.

I don't "make" him do the shopping; he does it because I'm bad at it. Kind of like I do all the laundry, or loading the dishwasher, or cleaning the house, because he's bad at it. Or I do all the working and making money, because he's bad at it.So you make him to all the shopping? All of it? And you're upset about the way he does it?Yeah, in most circumstances I'd think 5-ish is right, but Mr. krista knows I can't shop. I'm terrible at it and get panicked. Wow. Awesome story (well the ending part, anyway). There has been a black kid living with my neighbors for the last year or so and I finally got the story as to why. He was volunteering at the church they attend for a couple of years and then just stopped showing up. My neighbor, being the saint that he is, contacted him to find out why. Turns out he is one of thirteen kids and his mother claimed him as being mentally handicapped to get $600 a month from the government to care for him. He isn't of course, she just made him stay home from school to keep him stupid so he couldn't pass any of the tests he would have to take to keep the money coming in. She made him stop volunteering because he was learning too much and actually passed one of the tests. So now my neighbors are in the process of becoming his legal guardians. Really nice kid. My boys love him. These people are better than I ever could be.
He just turned 20. My neighbor taught him how to drive and he got his driver's license. After that, they gave him a car. They helped him by getting tutors and he passed his GED. Now they are researching grants and stuff so he can attend college. Just heart warming to know there are such good people in the world. Oh and his "mom" and a couple of aunts are in jail now for using his identity to open lines of credit. So they hired lawyers to try and get that cleaned up for him.Wow. Bump for the game.Alright, other than the women losing, it's been a pretty awesome day. A little story, humor me. I always wanted to play college football. I wasn't a passionate fan or anything, I just loved the game. My knees were bad even back then however and I faced reality, and didn't even try. However when I actually got to school some of the guys in the dorm that were on the team knew of me and really pushed me to be go out. (I wasn't great but pretty good, I was in the paper a couple of times.) So I started training and found out what I knew already, my body just couldn't hand it. I tried training again towards the end of the year and same results. Oh well. My roommate my sophomore year was an All American soccer player there on scholarship. We were good buddies from here n STL for a long time, you know whatever. We both liked to drink and have fun. Well one Saturday he comes home and tells me they have a scrimmage with another school, a bunch of guys on the team have the flu and they're a guy short. Do I want to play? Hell yeah. I haven't palyed soccer competitively since I was in the 8th grade but I had my shin guards in the drawer. One of my best friends, still is, the guy I toud you about that had his house foreclosed on from underneath him, quit the "A" team in school and played with me on the "B" team because he was so mad I wasn't there with him. Politics man. St. Louis is a soccer town. Most of the nation thinks baseball but it's really all about the soccer. There were several guys I played with in grade school that went pro. One of the people I love and respected the most played on the World Cup team. I really miss that Italian #####. So here I am game day, it never even occurred to me at the time I'm playing against some of the best, and with the best, around. I'm at fullback we're down 1-0 late in the second half when I steal the ball. I'm at about midway on our end from the goal to half field. Another guy is coming at me, I nut him, jump over his left leg point to my roommate to go. He's sprinting down field and I drop the ball right over his left shoulder as he's about to pass the defenders. He was about halfway on their side and just launches a canon for a goal. It was remarkable. You would think that having that much room, you could see where the ball was going but he hit it that hard. We end up in overtime and after two sets of penalty kicks, they have to put me up there. I'm kicking fourth, the first two guys on both sides made their shot both of the third guys missed. Now it's up to me. I stared hard at the bottom left hand corner of the net. I approached the ball, the goalie dives towards the left hand side and I canned it in the top right corner. It was unreal. I turn to see my teammate and they're all laughing. I shrugged my shoulders, had my hands, palms up, at my waist and just said "what?" Now they are bent over laughing. Turns out my roommate was taking bets against me. The next guy on their team missed and we won. It was a remarkable, surreal, day. For a brief moment in time, I was a college athlete.
Mr. krista and I muse about winning the birth lottery. Take a guy like Julio in Nicaragua. You take such a smart, hard-working, awesome guy and put him in a US middle-class family and the world is his oyster--he could probably do anything he wanted. Yep. I'll never forget talking to my Dad when I was 13 about why the Russians hated and wanted to nuke us. It was on a hot summers night and we were on the front porch which was unusual. We had a long conversation about politics and the "birth lottery". It makes me sad too, GB. Please know I make sure to drill into the heads of my boys how lucky they are to have also been born into prosperity and opportunity. I'm happy to report that they seem to understand.Mr. krista and I muse about winning the birth lottery. Take a guy like Julio in Nicaragua.
