GM's thread about nothing (52 Viewers)

Didn't want to start my own thread b/c I figure we have an insurance guy in here.Currently have a $250k life insurance policy (30 year term)on myself that I'm paying $30/month and I want to end up with a total of $750k coverage on me.Does it make sense for me to keep the current policy at all, or just go ahead and price out $750k policies and $500k policies and compare the total cost?
Keep the current and add to it.
What's the rationale here? I mean what if a $750k policy comes in at $75/month and a $500k policy comes in at $50/month (brining my total cost to $80/month) Wouldn't it make more sense to take the $750k at $75/month?
I'll preface this by saying I'm far from an expert in life insurance and know others can guide you better, but I was in a similar boat to yours when my first son was born. I had a joint policy with my first wife for $500K (250 each) that I pay $23 a month for. I bought it when I was 27 and locked into a very low rate. After my first was born, I added another policy for just myself and the broker I worked with told me to keep my exisiting policy. By then I was 30, had some cholesterol issues and was forced to pay a bit of a premium because of it (not much, but about $5 more per month than if I was lean mean and a few years younger). Your mileage may vary, but I think adding on to an existing is the shark move. I could be very wrong, but the broker I work with steered me this way and considering he was a different broker than the first guy I used, he could have pushed me into cancelling the other one and buying a bigger policy from him. He didn't do that. Talk it over with a broker.

Anyone got a shaft cooler they don't want? We use one for icefishing rods and lost it off the skidoo last weekend. We had gotten it free in a case of beer and I can't seem to find one anywhere around. I'm sure they're on ebay but free would be better.
Sure, if you let me use your shaft warmer.

GBGM, good timing on the warning to get out of URG. I owe you one.
Link?
Said to get out Feb. 24th. I sold URG at $2.80, was in it from $2.32. Could have made more if I'd sold sooner, but still happy with the gain. Warning came at the right time.
Shoulda listened to myself. :kicksrock:

And as much as I'd like to sit here and complain or air my despair, I'm not out a house, , village, family member or job (yet) like so many thousands of Japanese. My hell is a picnic compared to their hell.
I agree. I pretty much doubled down on Monday too.I LIKE THE WAY SNRUB THINKS!

Thx everyone for responding...seems to make sense.

TF, a GB and myself were talking life insurance about a year ago. I told him how my insurance guy called me and suggested I buy another policy. I have a 250k term policy now and several smaller whole life (I know)policies that I bought as a young man should I die in a hail of gunfire. My GB told me he had a similar set up and he figured it was more than enough and he really didn't care if she was rich after he went.

So my question to you is this, why are you so concerned about New Mr. TF which is probably going to be some tall hunk with a rippling rump?

You want her to have enough that she and the kids won't be homeless, but not so much that she becomes immediately more attractive to other men.

:lmao: I'm carrying enough to cover mortgages, college and maybe a trip or two to Hawaii...but not enough to plant the seed of a murder plot.

My wife could lose money if I die and she probably has a list of ways she could off me and make it look like and accident.

They are making up bands name on this raidyo show I listen to.

The Anal Sax

The Great Wall Of Gina

lol
Ron and Fez?Can't believe people fell for the ol' "I'm sorry, McDonald's" gag. Rubes.
lolThe Reptile Dysfunction

Mrs. SLB told me last night that their bacon & cheese Angus burger is almost 800 calories. I had one of them about a year ago on a road trip. It was awful. HTF can you make something that unhealthy taste that bad. Something for them to really rape a clown with.

I know very little about, well most things, and one of them is college basketball. However I really like to gamble. I Googled "expert picks" and this came up.

Krista, who should I go with?

I arrived in Savannah about half an hour ago. One of the TV stations is putting us up at a hotel on Bay Street and providing everything for St. Patty's Day. I had 12 drinks tickets thrust in my hand at check-in, another two (for liquor and beer) just now at pre-dinner cocktails, and wine is provided with dinner. I am standing on a balcony at sunset, gin and tonic in hand, overlooking the water.

Tomorrow they will have chairs set up for the parade and a full service hospitality suite for the day.

I may never see any of you again. Any FBGs whose #s I have> sorry.

With this and Samuel's Phoenix/St.Paddys/batchelor party-apalooza, I see some EPIC text/calls between you 2. I pray that 1 of you 2 remember to save the text exchanges and then post them here (assuming you both survive, I'm praying for that as well)

2 funny/odd things from work:

Went out for drinks with some co-workers last night and one of them recently becames "friends" with me on FaceBook. She says to me: "hey, I was cracking up when I saw on your profile that your "activities and interests" include: Baby wipes, Betty White, Flavor-Ice (my freeze pop fetish) Curious George, Jim Beam and Tom Selleck's mustache." My buddy then says while getting up to walk to the bathroom "and he became "friends" with some CatFish guy" :lmao:

The other funny/odd thing was that I accidentally touched a 60 year old man's junk. That was actually more creepy than funny or odd.

Well, I bid the GMTAN adieu. Boarding my flight to Phoenix in a few minutes. Thanks for the FB well wishes. :lmao:I hope I don't die
Was that your Mom? If so, :lmao: at Cat Shirt.

So i get an email at work that I figured was just another chain email-

A bill filed by state Sen. Jim Norman, R-Tampa, would make photographing farms without the written consent of the owner a first-degree felony in Florida. Senate Bill 1246, simply titled “Farms,” has caused a stir among animal-advocacy groups for comparing a potential whistleblower who might expose the realities of factory farming — or even a tourist snapping a photograph of cows grazing in a field — with those who commit murder or armed robbery. #“This bill is particularly outrageous, and frankly Sen. Norman should be ashamed of himself for even introducing a bill like this,” says Jeff Kerr, general counsel for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (aka PETA). #The language of the bill, which is very brief, notes that video or photographic records taken “at or of a farm” would become illegal, and the guilty party could face the same penalties as a violent criminal — including a $10,000 fine and up to 30 years in prison. #
But it looks like the bill is actually real -http://flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2011/1246Good thing Florida doesn't have any budget problems to worry about.

:lmao:the $1MM will cover debt (about $250k) and putting the kids through college (gotta pay for kids education here b/c we don't want to send them to public school)....by my calculations, after getting them through college, she might have enough to buy their graduation dinner

Heading to the airport shortly to hop a quick flight down to Chicago with two of my best friends where we'll be staying with a third who has a PS3 hooked up to a 12 foot screen. The next four days will consist of nothing but drinking and watching basketball with nary a family member in sight, or even in state.

Best. Vacation. Ever.

With her penchant for drunk dialing, something tells me YSR was the greatest ex-girlfriend ever.

My Mom says there are a lot of black people in Africa.

Am I the only hetero man in America that isn't filling out a bracket? I probably couldn't name more than 5 teams in this year's tourney.

This is the first year I haven't filled one out since... I could write, I think. I feel a little hollow inside. I plan to fill that space with booze.

I don't really follow college hoops. My picks for the Final 4: Villanova, Georgetown, the school that Teen Wolf plays for, and The Hickory Hoosiers or whatever.

I don't follow it like I used to, but I still watch a game now and then. I stole your shtick for my final 4 picks:

I'm in 4 pools. I copied Freeman's picks from the previous link except I took Missouri winning in the first round. Plus I'm in several other sic bets. I maybe watched half of a basketball game this year. :shrug:Good call on teh Beavers.

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention that I'm not a degenerate gambler. No offense.
