YSR - Here's who I'd pick. Thought I'd post it here for ridicule. WARNING: I am no professional handicapper guy like some of these dudes.
Utah St. (4-8) +22.5
#23 AUBURN (14-0) -22.5
Robert Turbin is a good RB…in the WAC. But Auburn should be able to shut him down and cruise.
Northwestern (7-6) +2.5
BOSTON COLLEGE (7-6) -2.5
Sounds like Persa is out for NW, which leaves Kain Colter at the helm. BC has a backup at RB for week1, but Andre Williams has talent. (and is on my fantasy team!) I'd go NW if Persa was back and healthy, but he's not.
Kent State (5-7) +36.5
#2 ALABAMA (10-3) -36.5
Jeeplvr (Bamafan) thinks they won't run it up too much on Kent State. I'd go Bama because Jeep is a dummy, but this is a coin flip.
UCLA (4-8) +3.5
HOUSTON (5-7) -3.5
Feel pretty good about Houston and Case Keenum here.
Western Mich (6-6) +13.5
MICHIGAN (7-6) -13.5
Michigan, Denard Robinson is back and will be beastly again until he breaks again. Alex Carder is a pretty good QB for WMU, but he lost his top WR from a year ago.
Troy (8-5) +16.5
CLEMSON (6-7) -16.5
This one is down to 15.5 now. I'd take Troy-they have a solid QB returning in Corey Robinson and Tajh Boyd is getting a chance to be the man in Clemson, but he didn't look good in 2010. He may struggle enough to keep it close. Clemson's D is nothing to write home about.
Minnesota (3-9) +21.5
#25 USC (8-5) -21.5
This one is up to 23.5. The homer in me says that the Gophers can cover and that the new coach will be doing his damnedest to clock manage. The realist in me knows the Gophers' biggest weakness is their pass defense and rush and USC's biggest strength is Barkley and the passing game. I would pick Minnesota because I'm dumb, but you should take USC.
BYU (7-6) -2.5
MISSISSIPPI (4-8) +2.5
Ole Miss looks like they have an improved defense. Brandon Bolden is a stud RB too.
Colorado St. (3-9) -4.5
NEW MEXICO (1-11) +4.5
GREAT MATCHUP! This one is up to 6 and with Pete Effing Thomas at QB, I can see why. (fantasy teamer!)
Florida Atl. (4-8) +31.5
#22 FLORIDA (8-5) -31.5
FAU is a sun belt bottom feeder and this line is now up to 35. FAU is starting a QB that has thrown 5 college passes. The D and Special teams might make up the bulk of that 35 point spread.
#12 South Carolina (9-5) -20.5
East Carolina (6-7) +20.5
ECU is a scrappy team led by Skip Holtz. They have performed some magic in the past. This is not one of those times as the COCKS are pretty solid in all facets.
Fresno St. (8-5) +9.5
California (5-7) -9.5
David Carr's little brother Derek takes over at QB in Fresno. They also have a pretty good running game with Robbie Rouse. Cal has a new QB and a new starting RB (ISI SOFELE!). I'd go Fresno here.
Rice (4-8) +23.5
TEXAS (5-7) -23.5
Texas isn't very explosive with Gilbert Gottfried at QB. Maybe Sam McGuffie will jump over someone.
Tulsa (10-3) +21.5
#1 OKLAHOMA (12-2) -21.5
Oklahoma on the other hand is very explosive.
#4 LSU (11-2) +1.5
#3 Oregon (12-1) -1.5
Red and Jeep and TF all like LSU, but they're getting 4 points now instead of the 1.5 listed here. I'd go Oregon with the 1.5.
#5 Boise St. (12-1) -2.5
#19 Georgia (6-7) +2.5
Georgia's defense is good, but my Kellen Moore boner is gooder. Georgia might be going with true frosh Isiah Crowell at RB.
Colorado (5-7) +6.5
HAWAII (10-4) -6.5
Hawaii is much better at home and Moniz is another slinger at QB...the Bows will put up some points.
Marshall (5-7) +20.5
#24 WEST VIRGINIA (9-4) -20.5
Despite having two fantasy players on Marshall, including super badass Travon Van, I like WVU here. This one is up to 23 now too.
SMU (7-7) +16.5
#8 TEXAS A&M (9-4) -16.5
Tough call for me here. Kyle Padron is a pretty good QB for SMU; he threw 31 TDs last year. I just think the talent is too strong on defense for A&M. They return 9 starters from a team that dropped points allowed from 33 in 09 to 21 in 08.
Tiebreaker Total - LSU at Oregon (54.5): I'll go 30-27 Oregon for 57 total.
