GM's thread about nothing (28 Viewers)

Ugh, just saw where everyone will likely be asked to cry while watching College Game Day once again. Rinaldi will be doing a piece on Carson Tinker tomorrow (Alabama player). He was in a house which was obliterated by the tornado. Apparently he was hugging his girlfriend before they were both sucked out of the house. He wound up in a field across the street and she ended up dead in a tree further away. Just warning anyone planning to watch tomorrow. Some of you probably read the story previously.

Also need to get in on Sons and Breaking Bad. I've been aware of my failure here for some time though.

Also, don't look now but TCU made this a game.

I'm a couple of years behind the times, but Sons of Anarchy is a damn good show.
I'm further behind. Not watching Breaking Bad either and I'm told it's a mistake.
Same here on Breaking Bad....only got halfway through the first season and then started watching other shows
I'm hoping they're both on Netlix direct by now, at least the non-current seasons. I'm trodding my way through Lost again as I go to sleep every night, but it's a slow process.Apparently I also need to to the same with Mad Men.

Mad Men is one of my favorite shows ever but it's slow and plodding like a Steinbeck novel. The focus is on the characters and their development, not necessarily big events and mind blowing moments.

Slow and plodding might be fine with me, just as long as it's not as slow and plodding as Boardwalk Empire. I gave up on that one and I love Buscemi.

TCU GOING FOR THE TIE!!!
FOOTBALL!!!!So glad it's here. Last night sucked and I wondered what I was waiting for so long, but I thought this game would be good and it hasn't disappointed.Wow... TCU ball in Baylor territory.Soccer to watch when this is over too!

Also gave up on Boardwalk after 6 episodes. I'm more of a reader anyway (4-5 books a week), and my attention span is very short. For example I'm sitting my apartment while my date showers and had to check the FFA :bag:

Hi, rc

So, looks like we're headed to the MEAC. Sweet.I thought I didn't get to watch Mizzou games now...
Mizzou will be like that guy in high school that thought he was popular enough to ask the two of the hottest girls in school (Big 10 and SEC) to the prom, but instead ended up with the nerdy girl (Mountain West).

As a Colorado State alum, I hope the MWC can start picking at some of these scraps and field a legit conference. If BYU,TCU and Utah would have stayed, they would have had possibly the 3rd best conference in football behind the SEC and Big 10, right there with the Pac-12 and Big 12 and well ahead of the ACC, Big East. If they can start grabbing teams like Mizzou, and Texas Tech and make a legit 12 team conference they may be able to vault back above the Big East and ACC.

7:15 this morning. My dad calls. He's got someone wanting to buy my old SeaDoo at the last minute for Labor Day weekend. He's calling me to act like we're haggling out the price. No big deal. I knew this phone call was coming.

7:30 They took it for a test drive and it's still bogging down. Want to reduce the price. Cool, no problem. Kind of expected a follow-up call.

7:55 The BS begins. My brother in law is apparently at Waffle House, eating alone and bored. Started texting. I was almost asleep.

My dog was realatively unphased.

8:30 My stepmother calls to make sure I'm bringing the boat on Sunday. My nieces and nephews were already complaining that we got the SeaDoo sold.

I gave up after that. With no soccer to watch, I was planning on sleeping in. :kicksrock:

Tornado story on ESPN right now. I met one of Tinker's roommates the other day. HFS, that's the guy: Alan. I got teary eyed just talking to that guy.

Oh, and last night? I had two small vodka on the rocks. Don't remember the end of the USMNT game or going upstairs to sleep. Apparently at some point during the night, I was shirtless. Reginald Cornsilks has been advising me on a low carb diet and I'm becoming a terribly cheap date.

Why there needs to be a special Facebook just for senior citizens:

My mom calls me on my cell at 11:00 last night. She never calls that late. I assume it is something serious. Turns out that my Uncle Gary, who is in town for this big family reunion we have today, tried to send his daughter (my cousin Pam) a message.

Of course he doesn't send her the message one-on-one...he posts it to her wall by accident. He was just telling her that he made into town safely and everything was good but he also said something a little unflattering about another family member.

My mom calls me because they want to take it down but can't do it. Gary is staying at my mom's house so he was right there when she called.

So there's about 5 minutes of me saying "No, just move the cursor over the right and click the "x". No, right by Gary's name...to the right...the right...it's a little black X...TO THE RIGHT...AN X...CLICK IT..."

In the meantime I'm on FB refreshing my cousin's page to see if it is still there. I was about to just ask for my uncle's password when this happens:

Mom: OK, Gary says he did it. He removed it from Pam's page.

Me: Yeah, I just checked and it's gone. Good.

Mom: OK, now how do we get it off of everybodyelse's pages?

Me: wat

Mom: Is there a way to delete it from all the other people who can see it?

Me: (really tempted to tell her that she has to call everyone in our family and tell them to delete it too)

Don't worry about it, Mom. It's gone forever. Nobody can see it.

Mom: OH! That was it?

Me: Yep. It's gone forever.

Mom: OH THANK YOU, HONEY.

Me: No problem. Mom? No more computer time for you and your little brother. Go to bed.

Tomorrow we head to Chicago, which would usually be a celebration time for me.OPERATION MOVE TO NICARAGUA is in effect, however. And OMTN means that our dog will have to find another home. She is not only a super-nervous dog that could not take a flight, but she also has a heart murmur that is not an everyday problem but makes it impossible to put her in the belly of a plane. Going over four border crossings of crappy countries with her is also too risky. So a few months ago I asked my ex, who had many friends who adored my dog, if any of them would be interested in taking her in. I figured that even though we don't know exactly when we'll move, it's better to get her into a new home when she is middle-aged (9 years old, a small dog) than waiting 'til she's on her last legs. He immediately stepped up and said he would love to take her himself. So tomorrow we will drive eight hours to have Lucy the Dog go to live with her second-favorite person in the world (after Mr. krista), with a bunch of people who work out of a house and can therefore keep her company 24 hours a day instead of her usual eight, with an "uncle" and "aunt" with a farm in Michigan that she absolutely loves, and will be able once again to spoon with her pit-bull boyfriend.Meanwhile, Mr. krista and I are devastated, no matter how well we know that this is better for her.
Cornhole tonight? TU and I will be there. Already made contact with Rudnicki and UH, appears we may be putting something together
Damn it! Just saw this. Would love to have met up with you guys. :( Have a great time at PJ!

My list of GMTAN wives that I'd be into if I were that way:

Truck's

proninja's

shamwow's

Note: If your wife is not listed above, it's either because I haven't seen her or I have admittedly unusual tastes.
You are still one of my only female friends who either -1. Doesn't drool and say my wife is hot.

2. Doesn't hint (or outright beg) to hook up with her.

I find this slightly weird but also very honest. But could you get over your weird tastes and !@#$ my wife already? Nobody likes an outlier.

:kicksrock: Time to come up with a new retirement plan.
:lmao: to both.

My 85 year old grandmother still comes into the office to work. We don't let her do much these days, but in the last 7-8 years, she has downloaded enough viruses to kill 4 different computers.

The most interesting day ever was when she managed to shift her monitor "upside down." I had to look-up that fix online, but for the first couple of minutes, I was trying to turn my head upside down to manipulate the mouse to the correct locations on the screen.

She still types lower case l's and uses zeroes for capitalized 0's because that's how typewriters worked in the 40's and 50's when she was a legal secretary.

Old people and computers don't mix. Sadly, I can already tell I'm getting less tech savy by the day. I'll be the same way eventually, I'm sure.
