GM's thread about nothing (30 Viewers)

Any rental car tips? I haven't rented a car outside of business in ages. Looking to rent for less than 48 hours..pick up at SF airport and drop off near my hotel in SF. Quick orbitz search shows the cheapest at around $270...that sounds very high, no?

You'll get hammered on midweek rates.I go to hotwire.com and see what offers I get, then I go to Priceline.com and make a bid about 25-30% under that. Usually works. At $270, you should consider taxis and mass transit. The bay area has some of the best mass transit west of the Mississippi. And the trains and trolleys are kind of fun.

There you go. (But it will vary wildly by dates/days). For me a $50 hotwire price usually equals about 30-40 on Priceline. On Priceline start with a higher car class than you need (SUVs are often inexplicably cheap) and then adjust price and car class so you can keep making bids.

I did something similar when I flew into San Jose. Rented a car there and dropped off near hotel in San Fran. Rates fluctuated a ton depending on where I was dropping it off so check a few locations.

I most cities you will pay an extra 25-50% in local taxes/fees to pickup your car at the airport.

that's all well and good, but the rates I was being quoted went from something like $70 to $300 picking up at the same exact place (airport) but dropping off a few blocks apart in San Francisco.

Will that **official** t-shirt be available for purchase? It made me giggle and I think it'd be a hit with the judges at my weekly wet t-shirt contest at Jumbo's Clown Room.

Yeah, you are always subject to exorbitant surcharges if you drop off differently than where you pick up. Except for Enterprise. They are usually pretty reasonable on that

Just found out from on of ours VPs via FACEBOOK t I have some business travel coming up over the next six weeks. That has to be a first.

This is an act I would appreciate spreading to all races and cultures.
:goodposting:That's one of those questions you always want to ask a person of color but there isn't any way to do it without coming across as racist.
I seem to recall AZ Ron once saying that it was basically just to #### with white people. Could be wrong.
I think that was throwing trash at your car.

Last week I was contacted by an old client to come on as counsel on the eve of trial. It finished up today. Quite the ride to come into a case with four or five days to go before a 2-day trial, get up to speed on a three-foot high stack of docs, interview witnesses, and then try the dang thing. I think I may have a drink now. :banned:
Did you win?
WTF cares? Did you get paid?
You better have gotten paid a significant premium to jump into a case like that.
I got a very full retainer before entering an appearance.I got the other parties to agree that we could do memos rather than closing arguments bc of my late entry. As a result we wont get a decision for a few weeks. There are two claims against my client. Expect to successfully defend one, think on the other we are like 65/45 to win. [/QUOTE]Not sure anyone cares, but judgment came down today in my favor on all counts. Even the 65/45 one. :pickle:
