GM's thread about nothing (41 Viewers)

No, she has not led an armed revolution and founded a banana republic. I've gotta be honest - she's a little behind my timeline right now.

Classic shuke home improvement project. The lightning strike burned the logic board in my garage door opener. I decided to replace the entire system for $160 rather than $90 for the logic board, since my opener is 8 years old and I figure it'll probably crap out as soon as I invest money in it. So I go to Sears, I wanted to buy the same system I had so I could have the spare parts if anything goes wrong with the mechanical parts, so I passed the great sale they had on a 3/4 HP belt drive with battery backup and motion-detecting light system for $180 (reg price $300).

Bought it yesterday. I take it out of the box and realize it's a chain drive, and I have a screw drive. I look it up they don't even make the screw drives anymore. Well ####, I don't want this crappy chain drive when I could have the cadillac version for $20 more. So I box it up, head back, to Sears, only to find out the sales changed this morning. That other model is now $230. Manager won't budge on the price. I figure I don't need the battery back up and extra HP so I buy a different belt system for $200.

Get home and look over the directions, and it recommends reinforcing lightweight sectional doors. Hmmm, I guess I should have done that 8 years ago since the top section of the door is bowed and starting to crack. So I figure might as well fix it now. Go to Lowe's and drop $60 on angle iron and hardware, come back and cut it up and install it. By this time, it was 5:30 and I was done.

So I've spent $100 more than estimated, had to make two extra trips out, and the weekend's over and I don't have an opener installed.
Bet you're gay.

Well that was pretty intense. And now, after being able to watch episode after episode, I have to wait a week each for the last two like everybody else.

This sucks.

Stryker, get off your lazy drunk ### and start watching the damn show. What the hell is wrong with you people?!?
Stryker, looks like you can DVR the whole series 9/25-9/27. Marathon on AMC. That's my new plan.
Bump for Krista and I think SLB. Thanks Bobby Sac, you're a stand up guy. I don't care what thorn says about you.

Those video link probably should be added to the first post in this thread. Those are automatic GMTAN Hall of Fame links.
Wow those were great. Good on you Forest Vanderhouse for putting those in the OP for posterity.

:own3d:

Gonna have to go back and delete an old post, GB.
I'm pretty sure if I deleted all my worthless posts in this thread, it would free up at least a couple dozen pages
Pretty sure this thread would be about 8 pages long if we deleted worthless posts, hence the name. Plus, we need more Otis in here.

Whats this about a thread with a daughter and sex or something or another? I've been on a 3 day bender.

GM, not sure if you saw my groupme text but Bridgeport was a bit disappointing (and fish too....he's not disappointing the beer was (though he could probably step up the female story factor)). Their strong American ale was decent but the rest was not very good. Founders on the other hand, is probably the best brewery in the history of ever. I've always liked their stuff but it was confirmed on Saturday. They brought a limited edition beer called Doom, which is a bourbon barreled IPA. Sweet coked up Mayorga that is some good stuff. I might punch my mom in the face if she got in between me and a glass of it.

I have the worst fantasy baseball team ever but somehow snuck into the playoffs. Alfonso freaking Soriano has carried me. I ended up tied in the semifinals tonight. We have no rule for this. I can legally beat up our commish right (he's also who I'm tied with)?

I hate Mondays

Hey fish, we should look into starting that Eddie Royal guy :bag:

Hmmm now that they've stood up to mayorga, they've gained the respect of the locals. They will follow them. Viva revolución!

Who would have thought that by page 3000 we would have our very own shot videos from a former three time world champion. Life is good.

Jesus, am I going to have to start watching Breaking Bad to stay in this thread? I'm only through two seasons of Wires, for chrissakes. :(
Season 2 was my 2nd favorite so far. Season 3 wasn't very good. So far, I think season 4 is meh.
Expire in flames
Did I do something to upset you?
Did you read your post where you disparaged not one, but two seasons of the wire?

I think this is classic everyone's home improvement project. You're not doing it right unless you have to go back to the store at least twice.

:goodposting:

I'd be confused if I ever finished a home improvement project in a reasonable amount of time.

Back from Vegas. Pretty tame, but still fun. Hit a $100 3 team parlay Saturday night, which was great, but I had to hedge the Rice bet b/c they were playing so sloppy. Ended up only down $80 for the entire weekend including all food, drinks, cabs, etc

Any chance we can get updates in this thread with regards to the standings? Would be interesting to know who is doing well and who drafted food players...
