I am currently out of booze except for an unopened bottle of Hot 100 cinnamon liquor that cos brought to my Christmas party three years ago. And I am googling recipes for how to make a respectable drink from it. :bag:
CD> you were one of my favorites from coshole 2013, but even I (as a flysack-deemed problem drinker) have to tell you that a lot of your posts deal with booze and how you're scrimping on gas, etc. in order to pay for it.

Don't get me wrong, I had a fun run when I started pumping breast milk and drank a bunch of wine. But in having a 3.5 month old and working full-time, I'm not really sure where the alcohol could/should fit.

More importantly, if you're facing money issues, alcohol should be the first thing that goes, IMO. It's not a necessity.
I would say cigarettes, first.

Any GMTanners in the Decatur, IL area? I'll be down there tomorrow night watching my daughters cover band at a bar called the Rusty Spur.

First beer's on me

Gotta go to a funeral tomorrow. I was thinking how fortunate I am...I haven't been to a funeral since my grandmother died about 30 years ago.

Anyway, not to be insensitive but how much time should I expect to commit? I need to arrange child care since it's my weekend with my daughter.

Any specific denomination?

By "funeral" do you mean memorial service, interment/burial, or reception, or some combination of the above?

If it's a memorial service, you're looking at no more than an hour, tops.

Do you actually not know or interact with any other human beings? I'm asking for a friend.

As I understand it, he wasn't really religious. It's a burial/memorial service. I'm going at the GF's request--I never met the deceased.

Weird, huh?

As red said, no more than an hour unless there's a reception that you're going to afterwards

I have been to 5 funerals in my entire life:

1. Grandfather

2. Infant Sister

3. HS Girlfriend's father

4. Other HS friend's father

5. Co-worker's son

4 of those 5 were more than 25 years ago. There were 4 others that I would have gone to but for distance and other obligations at the time.

Just wanted to pop in and tell GM that I throw away the raisins that come in the Costco Trail Mix. I love grapes, but hate raisins.

I see no reason why this is some sort of contradiction. I like to bone women, but I have no sexual desire for mummies, however attractive they might have been once.

Maybe I'm the weird one? I can't count how many funerals/wakes/memorials I've been to between relatives, friends' parents, friends' kids (awful), friends (thankfully rare, so far) and co-workers.

I'm with you Thorn. Too many.

JFC. My 'today in history' today is the debut of SNL back in 1975. I was showing the kids a bunch of photos of cast members that went on to have big careers...Will Ferrel, Adam Sandler etc.

I showed them this photo. This one PITA kid raises his hand and seriously asks "are they twins?"
And your answer was... ?
"Um, no." I usually let the other kids handle stuff like that. Someone else said "It's the same picture, Chris."

I can't even count how many I've been to. My family two, three, and four generations older than me was huge. They bred young and lived a long time. I guess by the time I was 18, I'd been to 20 funerals. Most were of the "she was 97 and had a good life" type.

The first two that hit me hard both happened when I was 22.

The first was my grandmother, who was the coolest lady ever.

The second pisses me off to think about 29 years later. It was for a friend from HS who had just graduated college a few months before. She had been in a sorority at Maryland and was still helping it get ready for the next year. She got crocked one night and tried driving back. Wrapped her car around a tree and died. It was awful - she was one of the brightest and best among us.

That's enough to upset anyone, but it was the funeral that got me (& many others) so mad. They were lapsed Catholics so, while they didn't attend anymore, felt they needed a Catholic service. Her parents were a complete wreck (to this day, I well up remembering her dad coming to my place of work wanting to ask me to be a pall-bearer - all he could get out was "will you carry her?") and I'm sure wanted someone else to handle the details. So they had the priest from one of the local churches design the service - a priest that didn't know any of the family.

Mid-July, 100 degrees, no AC in the church, crushing loss of someone everyone loved. This ####### guy decides it's a good idea to do a full Mass - communion, speaking forever in Latin, blowing euchalyptus smoke all over the place, sprinkling holy water, him speaking of Dawn as if he knew her all her life. The Mass took 3 friggin hours. Her family just sobbing the whole time. Her brother told me later on that all they wanted was to give her a proper send-off, not a religeous ceremony led by someone who didn't know her. They just didn't have the wherewithall to express it firmly enough and, the brother felt, used it as a recruitment tool (I believe they had to "join" to get the service done).

That "what does the fox say" thing is the single dumbest most annoying thing in the world right now, right?
what does the fox say?

I have no idea what this is so hard to be annoyed by it.
dlurb! dlurb! dlurb! dlurb! dlurb! dlurb! dlurb!

Legit question IMO.

Well duh.

I heard that for the first time on Mike & Mike this morning. Holy crap, is that annoying.
It's a parody, and it's a little more understandable in a video form, but yeah, after one time I've seen the joke and let's not tell it anymore.

Aah, ok. I don't think M&M were presenting it that way, but I was only half paying attention. Agreed on shutting it down.
