GM's thread about nothing (32 Viewers)

So I decide I need some chinesed food to beat this hangover. Fortunately there is a place less than a 1/2 mile away so I decide to walk. I was passing by this mini-mart and this semi-homeless looking guy sitting next to the side of the building calls out to me:

Guy: Excuse me, young man (pause for laughter). Can I ask you a question?

Me: Sure, shoot.

Guy: So I woke up this morning and I said to myself "I sure would like to smoke some medical marijuana today." But the problem is that I don't have a green card(?) to go buy any. You wouldn't happen to have a card or know anyone that does?

Me: Sorry but I sure don't. Good luck there.

Guy: Well that was my question. HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS!
Thanks for already obstructing someone's New Years resolution, guy.
You're right. I should run out and get a medical marijuana card.

Bonus: cat runs out on to basketball court.

Agree on the ***** food though. I was craving some too. However I decided to take a 4 mile walk and felt really sore when I came home. So instead I took a perc, popped in season 3 of the Simpsons and munching on gift basket of cookies and candy a client sent me.
I'm thinking of going on a Fun Run myself.
It was refreshing and painful. I need to drop 10 pounds stat.
Oh I'm a good 15 over where I should be, and 25 over where I want to be.
15 would be perfect. Looking forward to getting back on my regularly scheduled diet. Mrs. SLB is back to the weight she was when we got married so I really look like a fat sl-bob standing next to her.

shuke>good luck to you and your family. That really sucks. I have two friends whose wives are dealing with very similar issues. Kind of weird that everyone that I've heard of dealing with this crippling migraine/pain issue is a woman.

Hang in there and shield your kids as best as possible. Also, be willing to ask friends for help. People are usually good about helping and there's no shame in admitting you need the help. The emotional burden is quite heavy.

Lady raiders is upright and not vomiting :excited: the sirloin cheeseburger from jack in the crack worked wonders.

I have joined her and am working through a 12er of Guinness cans with the SIL.

New Years Resolutions?

Taking a month off drinking

Run 1000 miles this year

Run a marathon

Fart the alphabet
I started a thread but no one cared. For me...I get no exercise...so I'm doing 100 reps combined of push-ups, sit-ups, and bicep curls every day.

I mostly read the internet...so I'm reading 100 pages a week of an actual book.

I need to keep my smoking down...so I'm aiming for 100 cigs total between now and my birthday (basically 100 days). At that point I'll reevaluate.

Whoa, I'm kinda messed up. I haven't taken one of these since I broke my neck. :oldunsure:
I'll pm you address....
I'm seriously ####ed up. Hard to believe I was taking 2 of these ever 3-4 hours for weeks.
I have the constitution of a large elephant when it comes to drugs or anything for the matter. After my acl surgery I was popping norco 10s to Brett farves envy. It's really a good thing I've never tried heroin

Man I hear that.

We have come across a few men during our time dealing with this, but yes, it seems the large majority of patients are women. Maybe it's hormonal related, who knows.

We do have a good network of friends who help us when needed, but my wife at times is afraid to ask, she already feels she is a burden to everyone. This has already come close to destroying her relations with her parents, who she can't really count on for help any more, and she is afraid it will lead to that with others.

I haven't wanted to weigh in too much because I am pretty sure I've mentioned hormones before and I couldn't remember what you had said about it. Hormones are no joke. I know women who have had their levels checked and once they got their hormones back on track, the migraines went away (I think it's an estrogen issue). I know your wife is way worse off than these women who just seemed to have them here and there, but if you haven't looked into hormone imbalance, I don't think it would hurt.

Regardless, I'm sorry for both you and your wife, and your kids as well. Sounds like quality of life is being affected across the board and I hope that gets better soon.

Actually I've heard it's a testosterone issue with most women. I have a client that specializes in helping women with migraines. I've heard the doctor interviewed several times on the radio. Any help you want Shuke and I'm happy to do it.

I hesitate to bring this up, but since we are offering suggestions for a situation that seems to have tired most everything (Shuke's wife's migraines), I used to be in the employee of Dr. Russell Roby in Austin. Roby had quite the past and had been cited by the Texas medical board a number of times for being disorganized with patient records. He is/was also a narcissist who ultimately fired me because I didn't bow at the alter of his genius. But he was, indeed, a genius. He helped a LOT of people (kids with allergies, professional athletes who used to play catcher for the Dodgers, state legislators who may or may not run for Governor here one day) by manipulating their hormones with bioidentical hormones and a regimen of diet and exercise. There was one girl that had intersistal (sp?) cystitis so badly that she couldn't get out of bed and needed a catheter because the pain of urinating made her pass out and now she lives a normal life.

I'm certainly not suggesting you contact him. I am suggesting that if you haven't looked in to any hormone therapy then perhaps you should.

ETA: Looks like he's either out of business or dead. So don't even bother contacting him. But look in on the hormone thing.

GB Shuke, hope you know I'm more than willing to help if you ever need it. Babysitting, play date with the kids, drinks after work just to lend an ear. You're good peoples

I feel like a schmo because I have some goals for 2014 that generally fall under "resolution" type things.

1. Lose 4 pounds/month

2. Read 20pp/day

I don't understand how GM can have trouble with Netflix but is able to utilize that rtsports FF website. That thing is ####### atrocious. :lmao:

What does someone have to do to get his license actually revoked?

I worked there after those complaints but before the new ones. The long and short of his defense was that patients signed forms indicating they were aware the treatments were not FDA approved (true) and that he never advertised that they were (also true). He also used only natural materials (hormones from pigs, placebos) and was not offering any sorts of medications or prescriptions. In other words, he presented himself as much as a dietitian as a doctor and despite the complaints, there wasn't much of an argument against his logic. He also had/has a law degree from UTexas and spent 10 years as a litigator before going to medical school. Don't get me wrong - I loathe the man and can't remember anything good at all about working for him. But he is/was no dummy. Our two practices grossed between 350 and 500k a month with only two physicians and one PA; that's CRAZY money for a private allergy practice.
