GM's thread about nothing (41 Viewers)

Shuke/Guster - had a bunch of leftover chili and leftover sphagetti noodles, so I decided to mix them both. Much better with corn chips and I'd venture to say, better by itself. Am I missing something? Just a regional thing?
It's the flavor and texture

I usually suggest people enter into the world of Cincinnati chili with skyline dip: a layer of cream cheese, a layer of chili, a layer of shredded cheddar baked and served with Fritos scoops

I think the big issue is that people hear chili and thing a bowl of meat, tomatoes and spices (no beans) that you eat with a spoon. The consistency of Cincinnati chili doesn't really lend itself to that, but serves well as a meat sauce on top of spaghetti.

Now you're making me crave skyline. Wish there was one within walking distance
My wife, originally from Cincinnati, stinks the house up with this #### occasionally.
I love your wife. You should send her my way from time to time. I've never made Cincinnati chili (you'll notice how I never call it chili, always Cincinnati chili... Needs the modifier because it's certainly not traditional chili). If I make chili it's going to be Texas chili, but that doesn't mean that Cincinnati chili isn't awesome.

Before or after?
Probably both :excited:

At the risk of sounding cliquish (is that a word?). Any reason EG72 or RaiderNation don't post in here? Not sure if there is any iBeef with anyone in here, but seems they would fit in nicely and add some lols to the thread
Agreed. This thread also needs more Tufnel and Capella.
I'm not as familiar with Raider Nation's work, but definitely on board for the other three.

One of the Raiders name people (Da Raiders or Raider Nation or Butt Raider or one of them) didn't like me much when I was on staff. But that shouldn't be a reason to stay away from here.

I second the nomination for extending bids to RN and EG. I nominate TRE as Pledgemaster, Tanner as Historian, Guster as Secretary, and Homer as Hell Week Coordinator.

wasn't me. but my notebook sucks

I'm home with my daughter today, so I let her have a friend over for a sleepover last night. They went to bed sometime after 11 last night and woke up around 5am. Wtf?? I expected the late night, but thought they might sleep in :wall:
This plan ALWAYS backfires on me.
Yeah, home with her again today. Snow Day!!

This is 4 out of the last 5 days. I'm running out of ways to entertain a 7 year old while I try to get some work done.

Gonna try to get everything done this morning so we can go play in the snow this afternoon for a bit
Here too. The phone rang at 5am with the news. Mrs. SLB answered and I hear "you have GOT to be MOTHER####ING KIDDING ME!!!". Good news is she didn't hear me giggling. Bad news is I couldn't go back to sleep.

Some nitwit replied all to the school closure e-mail this morning. Considering this is the entire Wentzville School District and not just the boys school, it had to be sent to thousands of people. His e-mail read, "I heard the school was locked down last week. How come I wasn't notified of this?!". :lmao:

Of course none of the schools in the WSD were locked down, it was Kirkwood. :lmao: :lmao:

Great shtick. Walnutz, was that you?

You should have sent, "Happy Birthday MLK!"

I have a hardback of "dr sleep" available of anyone would like to read it. Pretty good.
What do you want in trade?
Fish claimed it a minute ago but if he doesn't want it I will send to you. Don't want anything.
No biggie, I have plenty to read.
No shtick. And I've pimped this before but if you guys want a really good read see if you can find "Replay" by Ken Grimwood. I'll stake whatever crappy reputation on this.
Why do you love the french?

Added it to my spreadsheet. No follow up questions.
:lmao: Same here. No ####ing shtick.
You guys don't use goodreads?
This. I had the spreadsheet thing going for years before converting to goodreads.

I gave Cal Blubber this morning and he was finished in a couple of hours. Now he's reading Then Again Maybe I Won't. I'm hoping it's an interesting day for Mrs. SLB and not for me when I get home.

A "B" in Reading. What a gyp.

Goodreads looks pretty cool. I'm gonna set up an account and see what happens.
The only downside is that about 80% of the members are teen vampire romance fangirls. If you can get past that, the site is great for tracking books and finding recommendations. Their recommendation engine is pretty solid as well (much better than amazon).

My favorite part is where Tony skins his mule while watches the neighbor girl undress through the window.

Isn't that everyone's favorite part?

Snow day made SIGNIFICANTLY better by the arrival of gooey butter cake

Having a square and watching the Incredibles

Doing things like this is why you know so many people that die Bob.

Thanks a ton!!!

At the Knoxville worlds fair I had my first if many Petros. Take a bag of Fritos, add sour cream, chives, chili and shredded cheddar right in to the bag. Eat with fork
I'm all about this "walking taco"
It's pretty awesome. No idea why it isn't note popular as A wife range of chip options would be great for this kind of sustenance.
be honest. do you type with a stick in your mouth?

We have clients in town from ATL. I told them to dress warmly. When they got out of the car, they were wearing snow pants, snow boots, hats and gloves, and those face mask things. :lmao:

Is this a full size bag or one of those small ones? Do you open it sideways?

Seems like you'd end up with chili/sour cream all over your hands.
