Much prefer downtown.I'm pro downtown. Easier to get schwasted, less busy, lower table limits in the event you want to sit a table for 20+ hours...I checked out downtown Vegas for the first time in maybe 5 years last week. It looked pretty nice. They've made quite a few upgrades down there.
Thinking of staying there next time I'm in town.
Way too many idiots with big frozen neck drinks though.
FYI for downtowners, Main Street Station rooms are very cheap and large and the 777 Brewpub downstairs is open all night long. Food is good and drinks are cheap ($3 Yaeger bombs). It launched us in fine fashion pretty much every night. We didn't gamble there but starting every night with some apps and Yaeger bombs and finishing every night (morning) with eats before crashing was quality.
You also have places like the Griffon for quality hang outs. The Nugget has also been joined by the D and the Grand for more upscale joints. Even the old school places like the Plaza and Fremont have stepped it up a bit. The El Cortez is still it's same old lovely self.
