GM's thread about nothing (21 Viewers)

I checked out downtown Vegas for the first time in maybe 5 years last week. It looked pretty nice. They've made quite a few upgrades down there.

Thinking of staying there next time I'm in town.

Way too many idiots with big frozen neck drinks though.
I'm pro downtown. Easier to get schwasted, less busy, lower table limits in the event you want to sit a table for 20+ hours...
Much prefer downtown.

FYI for downtowners, Main Street Station rooms are very cheap and large and the 777 Brewpub downstairs is open all night long. Food is good and drinks are cheap ($3 Yaeger bombs). It launched us in fine fashion pretty much every night. We didn't gamble there but starting every night with some apps and Yaeger bombs and finishing every night (morning) with eats before crashing was quality.

You also have places like the Griffon for quality hang outs. The Nugget has also been joined by the D and the Grand for more upscale joints. Even the old school places like the Plaza and Fremont have stepped it up a bit. The El Cortez is still it's same old lovely self.

I once stayed at the Golden Gate. The beds were note even 6 feet long. Not kidding. It was fun to be able to lean out the windows and drunkenly slur at people down below on Fremont.

The strip is for rookies and rubes that sport wood over the M&M factory and neato fountains.
:lmao:

Wife and I are going in 3 weeks. Staying at The D (The Fitz). Haven't stayed there since the change over. Looks slightly improved.

I have been to Vegas many times. The only time I ever gambled was showing Mrs. Osaurus how to play video poker. That was it. She takes a quarter each time with her and plays 1 slot machine. Weird right?
Sounds a lot like my trips to vegas.

Staff sent home early after students were dismissed today. Cincinnati area forecast calling for a wintry mix of ice/sharks/minor-league Reds signings.I think I hear the bottle of Knob Creek in the cabinet calling me.
wait, you're a teacher in the area?
I do IT for a school district in N KY. I can see your HQ from my office.
It just got a little creepy in here, right?

they have one of those digital banners along the outside of THE D that just keeps saying "WE ACCEPT BITCOINS" or something like that.

so, don't forget to pack your bitcoins I guess.

you ever find that money you lost that one time when everybody thought you were napping but instead you were tearing your hotel room apart inch by inch?

So, Tanner wears neck drinks because hot chicks do it?

What else can we include in this reason for doing something?

I think I had about 50 polish mistakes at the super bowl party I went to.
I had exactly TWO. I still can't believe Mrs. SLB didn't make some to keep home. If she didn't bruise so easily I would punch her.
I asked my wife is she wanted us to make some to take to the SB we were going to. She looked at the recipe and declined. I don't think anybody here knows what they are.
Well my family is polish so there you go.
My wife is 50% polish and 50% italian. I'm not brave enough to make a joke out of this.

HI HONEY!
You have absolutely no reason to surrender here.

So I should jump into that bitcoins thread headfirst, no?

Made this mistake once. Horrible hotel. Fun place to gamble if you're a low-baller like me but that was probably the worst hotel room I've ever been in. I remember the tiny bed. You also couldn't open the bathroom door all the way because it would hit the toilet (actually true).

Apparently they've "upgraded" everything. Lipstick on a pig if you ask me.

The only way they could fix that place is if they started knocking down walls in between rooms to double their size.

Gone. And I didn't even get to lose it like normal.

this is getting a lot of local coverage, including one local channel live streaming the debate. I may tune is just to watch for the train wreck factor :bag:

For people afraid to click random links, it's the debate between Bill Nye and the guy that built the creation museum.

None of my neighbors have pools. I lived out west so Vegas was much closer then it is now. We usually stay in Vegas at the beginning or end of a National Park tour. See shows, eat good food, and people watch.

Are you the guy that has lived in an RV with his whole family for the last decade?

I played blackjack from like 10pm to 5:30am last time I was there. Had like 35 drinks (those still free when gambling?) and still walked away up $60

My little brother is in Melbourne right now. Heading to Thailand soon to go to a Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan or something. Then he's going backpacking through SE Asia. Will be home in 6-8 weeks he said. What a turd.

I haven't seen the renovated rooms personally, but from the pictures I've seen, you should be pleasantly surprised.

The second floor has been branded "Vintage Vegas," making perfect for old coots like you and me. There is good video poker up there, and Sigma Derby, the mechanical horse-racing game that is a blast with a large, drunken group. Bob>end of September, you say?
