I'm starting to get a little freaked out every time I can't immediately remember something. My father has dementia and I'm working on paranoia about it happening to me too.

I used to be able to recall EVERYTHING upon request. I could tell you what page a quote came from in any particular book I'd read; could pull up a snap shot of a blackboard every time I took a test in school; if you told me your birthday when I was 8 years old, I could call it back up when I was 40. None of that is bull ####.

But I'm slipping and am petrified. Cancer scares me, but not near as much as this.

Interesting development. Found a couple places in CP close to Austin that I really liked. Angrywife has decided that she really needed an Austin address so the search goes on.

Women be crazy.The most amusing part of this is that I expect to be in the house we are buying for about three years. Between AngryWife going back to work and my career path, we should be in a position to buy twice as much house by then. But we're treating this as if we may never be able to move again.

When I was at Kraft I worked with a great CFO who was 50 at the time (sounds young now, thought he was old then) who told me that our brains only could handle so many bits of information and that as you got older you had to clear out that useless stuff to make room for remembering the more important stuff.

Though in no way true, I liked that explanation. Seriously, don't worry.

Also because I am too lazy to PM you, I wanted to mention that I was thinking earlier today that I wanted to tell you that I constantly get people desperately wanting long-term rentals at Paloma (which I won't do), so there is a ton of demand for people living in Nica who want nice places to rent, if that helped you in your decision-making on expenses/income in buying a place, and presumably the long-termers would be easier in many ways.

It doesn't exactly work like that but as your put more emphasis into important things the ability to recall meaningless things diminishes. Einstein was notorious for his forgetfulness.

Thanks, my friend. I'm sure you're right, it just frightens me - especially with what my father is going through. I breezed through elementary school & Junior High on memory; High School, not so much because you had classes like Trig (where you HAD to show the work) or Speech (where you had to do some pre-event planning) - but I skated by. I never studied or took notes, which is fine when you can recall everything but doesn't serve so well when the memory slips.

As for Nica, why don't you want long term rentals? Is it because Paloma is on the market? Like you say, I would think that would make things much easier. But it's good to know that the demand is there enough that the place could pay for itself. Once Mata gets her situation straightened out, I'm going to take her there to see if she likes it - probably next winter. Hopefully, you'll have sold Paloma by then but if not you'll have at least one week rented......

If it's only two or three items, this still holds true. If I actually write down the list for him, this still holds true. TIA.

1. He didn't actually forget every time. He's passive aggressively telling you he's always a little bit mad at you;

2. He didn't actually forget every time, he just gets to that item and says "okay, I'll go to the store, I'll get the things we need, but I'm not seriously going to pay $2.00 for a roll of paper towels. Is it one of the Nag Hamani scrolls? The book of the dead? Why does a roll of paper towels now cost $2.00?"

3. He forgets and he hates looking at lists, like every other guy I know.

Good Lord.....Jeff Beck is 70 years old and can still play.

Gerry Goffin died the other day at 75. He and his then-wife Carole King wrote some of the greatest songs of all time (& he did ok after the divorce; so did Carole). Interesting that, though many of their big hits were sung by females, Gerry wrote the lyrics while Carole wrote the music.

Bobby Lane - Arcadia Bluffs? Friggin amazing. I don't play a ton of golf but this was the best course I've ever played. Hard as hell, but gorgeous. Staff was kind and humble, not snooty at all.

Spent the night in bustling Manistee, then drove straight across the state to Lake Huron. Stayed in a house right on the shores of the lake. Beautiful setting. Bon fires, beers, fishing off the dock.

However the revelry and good times came to a crashing halt when my MIL shouted from the deck of the house that my SILs water broke. My FIL drover her and her husband back to Detroit to deliver a healthy baby girl. Talk about a sobering moment. They left at midnight and baby was born at 430am. Crazy chit, man.

Last day of vacation for me here. Then it's 11 days at home alone for Milos. Then Seattle on Friday. Get in the ready position Seattle peeps.
