last year when Duckett was hurt, Dunn stayed in the game and got the goalline carries. Note that Justin Griffith was on the team last year and did not steal goalline carries.
this year, it looks like Dunn is the primary back with Norwood spelling Dunn, at about a 65-35 or 70-30 ratio. It is my best guess that whichever RB between Dunn and Norwood is in the game at the time will get the goalline carries.
sure enough in the first game of the year, in the only goalline sequence, Dunn got a carry from the 4 yard line to the 1; a carry from the 1 that was a defensive offsides, then ATL ran play action and scored on a pass to Crumpler.
Griffith, on the other hand, got one carry around mid-field for 6 yards and fumbled.
so... why do all of the "experts" predict that Griffith stands to benefit most from the Duckett trade and get the short yardage and goalline touches? There have been several articles that say "our sources believe Dunn's role will remain the same and Griffith will be the short yardage back." The only quotes from the HC indicate that he has confidence in Dunn in short yardage situations.
regardless of whether you think Griffith would be better at short yardage or it would be better for ATL to not use Dunn as a short yardage back because of (1) his size; (2) his age; (3) his propensity to get injured (which is a total myth); or (4) the fact that Dunn has always had a TD vulture in his career-- have you seen or heard anything that indicates Griffith or another RB besides Dunn will be the TD vulture?!?
so to answer my question... no, Griffith will not vulture TDs. The goalline carries should be split in the same way carries between Norwood, Dunn and Vick are split.
