Didn't see him in the projections....

KFFL) Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants LB Jonathan Goff worked at middle linebacker with the first-team defense during practice Wednesday, Dec. 2, which could be an indication that he will start in Week 13.

I'm interested to see what this kid can do. He was one of the higher-ranked MLB's going into the '08 draft. For whatever reason, his stock nose-dived and the Giants were able land him in a much later round.

I guess we'll know soon enough...

KFFL) New York Giants LB Jonathan Goff and LB Phillip Dillard saw time at middle linebacker in the first-team defense during practice Monday, June 7, according to New York Daily News' Ralph Vacchiano.

The only Giants linebacker you should have on your cheatsheet is Boley, D'Qwell Jackson, and Lofa Tatupu. And two of those three would need to get traded to the G-men.

Sintim is a decent longterm project, but he's more of a specialist pass-rusher.

A 16 team league where you can start 4 LBs needs to go a little deeper

;)I actually just grabbed Goff in one league for league min salary, and added him late last year in another deeper league. I think there's actually some value there - having gone to a bunch of NYG preseason games, he's a guy who has often caught my eye. Boley still has the most value with the scheme and his play, but I personally think Goff will beat out Dillard, and there's some LB3 upside (particularly in deeper leagues) if he sticks.

Someone is going to collect tackles for that team this year. Just because it isn't set in stone doesn't mean someone won't have value. And the cost of all these players is low.

No no no!!! That is awful logic. I call that the JJ Arrington theory. He's the starting RB with no competition, and he has no choice but to produce solid fantasy stats. We all saw what happened.Just because a guy is the starter doesn't make him a safe fantasy play. Stay away from all G'men LBs except Boley. Grab Sintim late in leagues that are skewed towards big plays.

Pretty bad analogy. IDPs' situation/scheme is much more of a factor in production than offensive players. The comparison also doesn't really make sense because the problem with JJ Arrington was that you had to take him early (in rookie drafts, anyway) - and thus were relying on him to produce. The whole point of this thread is that one of these LB's will emerge as a fantasy play, and all of the possible players are dirt cheap right now.

I'm not convinced any of the Giants' potential MLB candidates is good enough to warrant being drafted. I am not a Dillard fan at all. Goff is better, but he doesn't overwhelm me either. For now, I think Goff wins the job.

I think Goff could be a decent enough run defender, but in watching him, I see a player that will get abused in pass defense and that severely limits his upside. I just can't see him as a 3-down LB and for that reason, I can't justify ranking him at all.

for deep leagues where you start a minimum of 4 linebackers, its def. worth a look. Like the other guy said someone is gonna get the tackles.
