I normally don't give credit to LeBatard as a high-level thinker, but that's probably because his on-screen presence reminds me too much of Flounder from Animal House. I may have to check this one out.LeBatard was also pretty critical of non-critical-thinking football fans in that piece. Non-critical-thinking football fans are ESPN's core audience. People who can't be bothered beyond calling for harsh discipline so they can get back to articles discussing their teams' third tight end.To his credit, Simmons has addressed this issue, mostly from a viewpoint that he's like most fans -- he just can't help himself. No matter what kind of awful things happen in the sport, he'll continue to watch.Batard's piece went after the owners hardcore. Did not hold back. I mean the guy has some serious skins on the wall journalism wise, Simmons doesn't.
Guy is such a baby about all this.
