This one stood out to me. I realize the game is at Seattle, but can some explain to me why the Seahawks are favored? I do realize that the home team favored by 3 means the teams are essentially even. It seems to me the Packers, with the exception of last week against Atlanta, has played better football than Seattle.

Any comments are appreciated.

Two reasons that I see:

1. Seattle's defense tends to play much better at home.

2. Green Bay's defense has become a sieve.

I think the Seahawks will have success offensively - especially in the running game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Julius Jones have a good to great day running the ball. On the opposite side, the Seahawks could force some turnovers with their aggressive defense at home. And while Hasselbeck hasn't played well (due primarily to the fact he's had nobody to throw to most of the season), I could see him doing well against a weakened Green Bay secondary.

That said, if I was in Vegas I'd put some money on the Packers - and not because I'm a homer. I really think this is a Must Win game for Green Bay. The Packers can't afford to lose three straight with the Bears looking real good and the Vikings almost certainly going to win this week. A third straight loss would be devastating to the Packers.

Thanks, Packersfan. I was under the impression that GB's defense was better than you described, but I haven't watched any of their games.

It was better but injuries have severely weakened it. The Packers have major issues defensively right now.

this should be a great game for JJ!

all week Holmgren has been saying they need to get back to running the ball more..

GB isn't a very good football team right now, and that Seattle offense is better at home for some reason..

Don't forget that Seattle has wonder-receiver Deion Branch back!!

*cough*

Packersfan is right on. Seattle at home vs. on the road - two different teams.

Its just as much a "must-win" game for the Seahawks facing a 1-4 start if they can't win at home this weekend. I think its easy to see why Seattle is favored at Qwest Field.

The difference is the Seahawks weren't viewed as one of the strongest Super Bowl contenders in the NFC coming into the season. I agree Seattle needs to win this game badly but the Packers' season is unraveling and another loss would be devastating.

It's a sad day as a Ryan Grant owner when I officially give up on him, bench him, and put him up for trade.

I feel like the Packers coaching has squandered a great opportunity they have with good personnel after they lost their security blanket Favre.

WHERE IS THE RUN GAME?

Inexcusible.

not really, there defense pretty much sucks and the run game might be worse.

Maybe the Packers should apologize to you personally. Please bench him so he will go off.

CletiusMaximus....my thoughts exactly.

This is somewhat interesting.

Hasselbeck got the ball to PPR machine Engram last week, and I think he'll continue to look more and more comfortable in the coming weeks, and especially this week with a D that isn't likely to be breathing down his neck like the G-Men were last week.

That said, I always find that it's better to bet with the trend, even when the end may be in sight, than it is to try to predict the end of the trend. The current trend is that the Seahawks suck, and the Packers are not all that bad. I'd be fairly confident throwing money down on GB this week.
