Green Bay has NFL's best WR group? (1 Viewer)

I am a Packer fan. But even I don't see how Green Bay is considered the best receiving corps in the NFL. I've read in a couple of email updates where FBG is of this opinion. But how can you call them better than Arizona's? Arizona has a better #1, a better #2, and an equal #3. Green Bay may have the deepest group as I think even Ruvell Martin is a great 5 and Jordy Nelson is a great 4, but this just seems a bit off.

I figure on a scale of 1-10:Fitz: 10Boldin: 9Breaston: 6Urban: 3Doucet: 3TOTAL: 31Jennings: 9Driver: 8Jones: 6Nelson: 6Martin: 4TOTAL: 33Yep, Green Bay's is better if we're counting top 5. Top 3 is clearly the Cards.New EnglandMoss: 10Welker: 10Galloway: 5Lewis: 3???: 1TOTAL 29I don't think any other group is over a 25.

yeah I was going to say the same thing - top to bottom I think GBs WRs are stronger, the corps is deeper and bottom guys have more upside imo, but if you rate the top 3 spots one on one I think AZs are better there.

I agree on top 3. If Finley continues what he's been doing in camp I'd boost them a little more.

Okay now imagine Boldin playing Welkers role in that offense...what would he be like a 15 or so on that scale? If Welker is a 10 Boldin better be also. Is Jordy Nelson really any better than Urban? I think these ratings are going a bit overboard

Last year:Beaston 77 for 1006(in his second season).Urban 34 for 448 4Doucet 14 90 0(rookie season)Nelson 33 for 366 2(rookie season)jones 20 274 1 (47 676 2 as a rookie)martin 15 149 1(stats have decreased all 3 years)So Breaston has blown away all other GB 3,4,5 Wr's but is ranked =?Urban has better stats than 3,4,5 last year for GB....but is ranked lower than all of them.Doucet has slightly less stats than Martin(3rd year in the league with decreasing stats)....even though he was a rookie....and is ranked lower?

I figure on a scale of 1-10:

Breaston: 6 (1006 and 3 tds)

Urban: 3 (448 and 4tds)

Jones: 6 (274 and 1 td)

Nelson: 6 (366 and 2 tds)

Martin: 4 (149 and 1 td)

What this tells me is that Greenbay has the most overated WRs in the NFL not the Best.

Breaston had 200 more yards than all 3 of these guys combined and 1 less TD yet he is rated the same as Jones and Nelson?

Urban had more yds than any of these 3 Greenbay Wrs and as many TDs as all of them combined but he is rated lower than all of them and he is only half as good as 2 of them.

I figure on a scale of 1-10:

Fitz: 10

Boldin: 9

Breaston: 7

Urban: 5

Doucet: 1

TOTAL: 32

Jennings: 9

Driver: 8

Jones: 4

Nelson: 3

Martin: 2

TOTAL: 26

keep in mind the packers commit themselves to the run, and dont pass the ball as much as teams like NE and AZ. i actually think james jones and jordy nelson are both > breaston. im a michigan fan and watched him all through college and in nfl, hes nothing special.

I like Boldin a lot, he may be worth ranking as a 10, but Welker is among the best in the league at what he does. And yes, emphatically yes. Nelson >>> Urban.

If we are talking about WR duos, I think Arizona is hands down the best in the league. However, in terms of WR depth, I think GB has the edge (Jennings, Driver, Jones, Nelson).

this, although I think Breaston is equal to Nelson and Jones talentwise. I watched a lot of Breaston and Nelson while in college and I think Nelson has the potential to be much better. My rankings are based partly on past performance, partly on what I perceive their talent / potential to be.

And your future potential for a second year 1,000 yard WR isn't good?or

3rd round WR that was the main target on a National Championship team?

6 is good. I'm not big on Urban or Doucet regardless of where they were drafted or where they played in college.10 - ELITE, top 10 in the NFL

9 - great, top 20

6-8 - good, but not game changing

3-5 - adequate pros

1-2 - not going to make it long in the NFL

I guess i'm trying to get your idea here. You don't care where someone went to school.....yet you discuss Breaston in college(more of a returner or more effective there anyways) and don't care about Doucet.....but yet you loved nelson in college? But what they have done in the NFL has no weight in this debate?

No I don't care WHERE they went to school. I care what I saw.

Fair enough.....thats why I liked Jennings(western michigan).

But you didn't answer the NFL weight stuff....which I think has more weight than your perceptions of college ball etc.

Patten is no longer a Saint. I'd like to add that Henderson is very underrated from a real NFL perspective. He's way too inconsistent for fantasy, but his ability to stretch the field is a huge part of that passing attack.

It holds weight to show what they're capable of. The way I see it, last year's Rodgers was learning the game and the offense is not set up to get multiple WRs huge stats. Warner had a great year and the Cards offense was set up to get 3 WRs huge stats. The same might apply next year, but we're not talking about FF or stats, we're talking what they're capable of. To put it as simply as I can, I believe either Jones or Nelson would have similar success if the circumstances were similar. It's just my opinion, TIFWIW

Nobody else would.
Ok ... how bout now? James Jones and Jordy Nelson combined for 0 catches ... That certainly can't be the NFL's best group of receivers...Could it?Should they even be rostered?
If Meachem keeps developing they may have something there. As of now it's still only week one and it was the Lions.

I think this thread is meant to be more in terms of real life value, not FF value. If that is the case, I would still take the Packer WR corps over the Saints WR corps. One game into the season and one big game against the Lions does nothing to change that.

Are you telling me that Mike Bell is not better than Ryan Grant because of that one game?

0 catches is pretty bad in Real life or FF and we are not talking about 1 game ... Last year still happened

Yeah I'd still take the GB unit. :bye:

The Saints' top 4 WRs are pretty bad-### ... I like James Jones, but from down here in N.O., there's no way I can say he's clearly better right now than Henderson, Moore, or Meachem. Jordy Nelson is even more of an enigma ... not seeing info from GB's camp or seeing GB in the preseason.

Packers vs Bears

Saints VS Lions

Cardinals vs Niners.

One game but Jordy Nelson has not been good this year. I would throw to Jones or put Finley in the slot and make Nelson the punt returner.

so you think Nelson and Jones did nothing in real life?

Nelson has not been good this year?He returned punts quite well...and looked good against TN and when torching DRC in Arizona.

For some reason, I felt really uncomfortable watching Jordy field punts. The first punt he failed to waive for a fair catch and was almost clocked right as he caught the ball. All the other times, he looked like he didnt get a very clean catch. Maybe Im just being overly critical cause I was actually watching with a keen eye as a Packer fan but it made me nervous.

I agree his fielding of punts looked awkward...he was good on kickoffs though.Blackmon was supposedly close to being ready...so hopefully he is back there from now on for punts.
