Green Bay QB Ingle Martin To See Lots Of Work In Mini Camp (1 Viewer)

From the e-mail update:

"Packers QB Brett Farve will likely miss the team's mini-camp in two weekends while he continues to recover from bone spur removal surgery in his left ankle, according to HC Mike McCarthy. Additionally, backup QB Aaron Rodgers has yet to fully participate in workouts while rehabbing his left foot, which was injured November 19 when he broke the fifth metatarsal. Second year QB Ingle Martin will see the bulk of the work between now and June. "

We may see the next starting QB in GB under center in mini-camp...

*******Joe edit of title

Settle down fellas... I know what it said. What I was trying to imply (poorly, I guess) was that maybe Martin would have the opportunity to show his stuff for the coaches.

This is a terrible post!

You need to explain why Rodger's days are numbered or change the title to something like "Ingle Martin, just doing what he was hired to do while AR and BF heal".

Or you could just delete the thread entirely.

Sensationalist headlines are good reading in the line at the grocery store.

Folks, if you look at the original poster's roster in his sig you'll see why he suggests Martin over Rodgers. He owns Martin but not Rodgers.

Rogers is rehabbing a foot. Nothing to see here, Martin's not taking over anything.

He gets to show his stuff. The reality is, you have no idea what could happen.

What I know is that Thompson, during all the Moss trade rumor talk, repeatedly said Rodgers is the future and wasn't going to be a part of any Moss trade. I don't know why it's so hard for some on this board to believe a GM might actually be telling the truth.

Rodgers is there future right now, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least to see the Pack go QB on day-1 in the '08 draft (if Favre retires).

Welcome to FBG
Heh heh... thanks. Good to be here!

My point exactly. Rodgers hasn't shown anybody anything (granted he hasn't had much opportunity) and I wouldn't be surprised if the Packers go another direction once Rodgers does show his (lack of) skills. That's why I picked up Martin last year, and I think he may be the better QB (and in the starting gig) when it's all over.
The QB pecking order in Green Bay is as clear as any positional depth chart can possibly be in the NFL.
Not so fast my friend. We'll see in another two years.Sorry about the sensational title, I just got a little worked up and wanted to kick off a discussion. Is there any way I can change it?

I do love the enthusiasm, but it was a little bit of overkill. If you click the 'edit' button below your initial post, it allows you to change the post and/or the title. And welcome to the board young grasshopper.

The work consists of standing on a cafeteria table daily at lunch time and singing "I feel pretty", bringing in bagels every Wednesday morning, and making sure Brett Farve's car gets washed to his specifications.

Martin may be their future QB or it may be some veteran or some college player that hasn't enterred the pros yet. It's not so far fetched at all to guess it'd be Martin.

Last spring there were alot of draftniks on the Ingle bandwagon.

If Favre retires after 07, for the most part, Rodgers is going to have 3 years off and Martin will have two years off. We have no clue how either will play once they get a good chance in the NFL nevermind once they shake off the rust. Sitting that long can be good for some, not good for others....ya never know.

BTW Rodgers looked worse than Grossman or Orton in that brief appearance he made.

If I had to predict, the QB of the future is not on the roster

PackersNews.com reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (broken foot) sat out all team drills, but he looked confident throwing the football -- and moving in the pocket -- during other portions of practice. The most memorable throw was a spiraling strike to WR Carlyle Holiday that traveled 55 yards in the air. Rodgers rolled to his left on the play and did not appear to have any hesitation or difficulty setting his feet. Meanwhile, No. 3 QB Ingle Martin, looked uncomfortable running the starting offense while Rodgers and QB Brett Favre (ankle) sat out the 11-on-11 periods. At various points, Martin hit WR Donald Driver in the back with a pass; was intercepted by FS Nick Collins on a pass off rookie WR James Jones' fingertips; hummed another pick directly into the chest of OLB Brady Poppinga, who returned it into the end zone; airmailed RB P.J. Pope on a simple route out of the backfield; and rolled directly into a blitzing MLB Nick Barnett.
Tough day at the office.

Yeah it was. I read something similar late last night. Good to hear Rodgers is moving around and at least getting some action.

I am so used to screening posts when reading FF mesage boards (as in does this poster own/not own the guy he is pimping/slamming), that when I read of Martin's escapades, I thought: this author must be a Rodgers owner. At the very least, it's a pretty harsh account. Almost comical.

Well . . . other than that how'd you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln?

If you've been playing football your whole life and you are playing football professionally, how do you screw up THAT badly?!
