Green Bay Trade? (1 Viewer)

I have not heard of this but was wondering if anyone else has? A friend of mine at work said that "they" were talking on the radio of the possibility of a trade involving one of the Packer kickers for a RB or a TE. Has anyone else heard this at all. I cannot post a link as this is rumor to me but wanted to see if anyone else has heard anything. Thanks.

I've seen speculation the last week or so but no names associated with it. Basically, whoever they don't keep at PK they would trade. I'm not sure that that could be worth a lot in return, though.

Obviously you won't get much value in return for a Kicker but I wasn't sure if other players were involved or not. That's why I wanted to check with you guys.

Why would a team trade for a guy they are nearly sure GB will have to cut anyway?
Beacuse there could be 30 teams also trying to get him (although that would be very unlikely). IIRC, there are a few teams still with questions at kicker.
Maybe I should pay more attention to Ks. I hadn't realized so many teams had questions.
Beisdes GB, DAL is undecided. NYG have Tynes but may not be enthralled to have him. WAS has Suisham but probably would consider upgrading. TEN and TB have been in the market for kickers in recent seasons. And I'm not sure ATL is sold on Cundiff or KC is convinced Medlock is their guy. IMO, that makes 7 teams that could be looking at another kicker (although most of them won't make a move). You learn about kickers when you play in leagues that use 32 of them . . .

This must be some idiot radio personality speculating. They obviously don't know much about football because this is not going to happen unless they get a RB or TE the other team was cutting anyway.

I think the only team you missed of the teams speculated to have some interest in kicker is OAK. KC and ATL are the two in particular that people think might be willing to give something up for a kicker but neither has the kind of depth at either RB or TE that would guarantee the guy they gave up would even make GB's roster. Jason Dunn? Kris Wilson? Arlen Harris? Derrick Ross? I don't even think ATL would part with Dwayne Blakely for one of GB's kickers.

Yes and No. I understand they have two great starters and plan on trying to trade 1 for either a draft choice or player.

I think it go's without saying anyone GB would receive would be 3rd string or lower. All they'd really be doing it getting a jump on a probable FA.... but that's also really all they're giving up. Even if they end up releasing Crosby they only used a 6th rounder to draft him. If they can land a conditional 6th rounder for either kicker they're making out fine.

i can definitely see the Packers trading Rayner for a 6th/7th rounder or a guy to add depth to the roster. doesn't have to be a trade for a stud player in his prime to be a good trade.

Because the 1st in line gets him. Another team might trade a player they are going to cut. I heard they might even keep both kickers on the 53 team roster and then trade one. Their about equal right now and both are a lot better than a lot of kickers out there.

You might, IF the team wanting to trade was cutting a veteran to get rid of the salary like a Trotter.

The one thing that stands out about the GB kickers is they both can kick it 5 yards deep in the end zone and can nail 55 yarders. Both have been fairly accurate in pre-season.

Justin Vincent

So last offseason the Packers were ridiculed by some for not spending the money to resign Longwell, and just one year later they have one too many kickers worth keeping...

TT sure did make a huge mistake not signing Longwell to $2+ mil/year.

This was speculated about in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel last week. GB would like to trade the kicker they plan on cutting but the best they could probably get is a 6th/7th round draft pick. The market for kickers is down this year.

Kicker...I think it would be more likely that they trade a DT (Corey Williams maybe) for a pick or a player.

I say Williams because he is a free agent after this season.

They have a good solid rotation of guys at DT who could be serviceable to other teams.
