Greg Wesley needs a bump (1 Viewer)

Didn't the FS position in Herm Edwards defense with the Jets always finish near the top in tackles each year?

I see in limited time last night he had 5 solo tackles.

Am I missing something or does everyone expect him to not be a starter for the entire season?

There's concern his job is in danger. Jarrad Page has been working at FS (not to mention Pollard at SS). He's looked good, gotten mentioned a lot, and had two big sticks last night, that I saw.

Greg Wesley is another guy (see also Terrance Kiel and Donnie Edwards) that I just don't get the hate for this offseason. Aside from a few durability issues, Wesley, IMO, is one of the better two way safeties in the game. He fills quickly and hits hard and his coverage stats over the years have been top shelf (he's had 16 picks and 27 passes defended in the past three years).

Jarrad Page is an interesting guy, but he's a seventh round pick who slipped due to concerns he'd choose baseball over football. Pollard over Knight soon I get. But Wesley?

Wesley's stats should be fine in any defense because of his two way ability. It is worth nothing though that many of the Chiefs first team defenders played deep into the second quarter last night. Wesley, Mitchell, and Johnson looked solid as always. Even Kendrell Bell was impressive at times in the run defense. Wasn't around in the nickel and still looks to be behind both Johnson and Keyaron Fox there.

There was talk in KC that Wesley was going soft last year, not hitting the way he used to. So they brought in some serious competition for him and he seems rejuvinated. He hit everything in site last night. When you draft a vets replacement that is always good motivation.

He's pretty solid in coverage. He gets a lot of tackles, but he's also missed quite a few tackles over the last few years. Some competition couldn't hurt him. If he starts 16 games, he'll be a pretty good IDP guy this year..
