Griese-Grossman (1 Viewer)

If Griese sucks and turns out to be just as horrible as Rex, Do you think Grossman gets his job back in a few weeks or do Lovie and the staff try and get new blood at the QB position ?

Griese gets his first start against the Lions this week. After he puts up career best numbers nobody looks back. Believe me, i've seen it before- over and over and over and over and...

i wouldn't be surprised to see griese do really well.

as bad as grossman has been, i do think much of the problem is with the play calling. when i watch, i get the feeling that 90% of their plays are either runs up the middle or deep passes (the deep passes were working for 5 games last year).

If Griese sucks, the Bears will probably be finished for this season due to the injuries on defense. Since neither QB is in the future plans, I think they see if Orton has developed.

Unless Griese gets rip-roaring drunk on a Saturday night, bashes Kyle Orton in the head with a tequilla bottle sending Orton the the hospital and Griese to jail, we've seen Grossman take his last snap as a bear.

Orton can't throw the ball over 5 yds. You can't develop that any. :mellow:They literally averaged around 50 yds a game when Orton was in there. He's been 3rd string this whole time for a reason. And it hasn't been to let him develop further.

griese is an injury prone veteran who knows his limitations. he is being asked to take over and manage games so the bears can stay close or win with (what's left of) their defense. griese has never been a gunslinger, and he's only thrown for 3000 yds or 20 td's a couple times in his career. with griese, you get a little more pocket presence and hopefully a lot less mistakes. also, griese should get a little more respect from defenses even before he steps on the field... that alone should give benson's numbers an immediate boost.

just my take.

Don't give him any ideas.

and i didn't think orton was that bad... he was serviceable, and definitely not ready to step in and be starter straight out of college and zero reps with the first team, but i, for one, haven't seen him since then, and am curious to see how he's developed. i seem to recall he had a relatively good arm... if griese busts out, i'd rather see orton in there than grossman.

I am going to have to disagree with you here. I don't think Orton is all that bad. He did what they asked him to...manage the game, hand the ball off, and make a 5 yd pass if need be.

I think the beneficiary of this whole debacle is Robbie Gould. He threw a pretty mean spiral the other day. Granted, it was near nobody, but it was a nice spiral nonetheless.

that mean spiral by robby gould cost me -0.5 points in one of my leagues on sunday. i've since dropped him due to the anemic bears offense and picked up nick folk of the cowboys.

how hard was it to root for the bears on sunday while having Romo, MB3 and TO on a couple of my fantasy teams? very hard, especially with grossman at qb. now that he's gone, let's get this show on the road. no disrepsect to grossman, but he is not the qb of the bears future. if griese can just "not lose" games for a couple years, i can see him sticking around.

They haven't thrown one bomb all season.....know your facts.

i assume he's talking about some of grossman's 25 yard long (and 50 yard high) wiggly-bombs.
