Guardado is no better then Weathers. Outside of a bad multi inning outing against the Pirates last week, Weathers has been nails - good k numbers too.
I have a feeling that Guardado is thought of as a better closer option by the Cincy brass than Weathers. That tells me he is someone to stash for the 2nd half.
It would seem so but it sure seems like Guardado's "best" days are years and YEARS behind him. He's been garbage since he came into the NL, no reason to expect anything better after now coming off an injury too.
Last year in Cincy:15 games, 14 IP, 15 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 17 K, 1.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP - 8 savesNot exactly garbage, but he is coming off TJ.I think Weathers is better served as the set-up guy and the Reds trust him in that role, so it would surprise me to see Eddie closing out games upon his return.
