Guess My Foot Injury (1 Viewer)

Started walking about an hour a day for New Years. Tuesday, I decided to lightly jog for 25 mins as the walking was getting easier.

All felt fine until the next morning I started to get increasing soreness. By bed time it was really sore.

This morning I could put zero pressure on it and the pain is some of the worst I've ever felt.

Urgent care x rays negative for breaks. The pain is on the outer part of the ankle where the joint meets the foot.

Pressing underneath the ball of the ankle is excruciating and resting pain is probably an 8 on a 1-10 scale.

Putting pressure on it is near impossible without buckling over.

I have crutches but can't get an MRI or the foot specialist until my insurance pre authorizes it...likely a week from now.

Any guesses on what I'm dealing with? The Dr. Wasn't very helpful other than giving me some Tramadol and an anti inflammatory.

This tramadol crap any good to relieve this pain?

Will answer your injury questions in return.

I did tell the assistant fitting me for a walking boot I know a guy on the internet named Walking Boot.

She didn't find that very funny.

Can't tell you about the injury, but the Tramadol is a opioid. I'd always thought it was synthetic, but it's not saying that when I look it up. Regardless, it's an okay painkiller. It's not Tylenol 3 nor Oxy nor Perc, but if you take enough, it'll do the trick depending on your pain.

It's a mild painkiller.

eta* they gave it to me for lingering back pain after a car wreck once. It's also something I took recently after dental surgery, as they're getting tight with the real opiates.

You aren't kidding about the painkillers. I'm very stubborn with doctors. If I'm at a doctor's office, I'm either dying or have pain that has become intolerable.

Its also likely an urgent care type thing since anyone can come off the street and feign back pain and try to score some opiates. I'm sitting there in a full suit and tie and need a wheelchair to make it to the room. Like I'm really wasting my day sitting here to score 5 weak painkillers. Just give me the good #### so I can sleep and get around a bit.

stress fracture?

I had plantar fasciitis off and on for the past several years. i could take an anti-inflammatory and play basketball no problem. can't imagine that's what you have.

peroneal-tendonitis
Looks pretty damn close to where the pain runs and symptom wise.

Thanks folks. Unreal I have to wait this long to get this assessed though.

On another note, the Tramadol isn't so bad.

I guess our golf plans will have to wait another year Bell.

What really worries me is vacation in May that will require a lot of hiking/walking.

yeah man sorry for not hooking up last year

I'm almost certain it's not gout.

I eat a clean diet and this is very clearly related to me trying to jog on the road for the first time in years.

There is zero redness, swelling or joint pain.

I've had tendonitis in my elbow and knee and it hurt worst and lingered longer than any break I've had.

I got to one point I couldn't lift like 2 pounds with my right arm

i came here to type gout but i see others said it got get your blood checked just to be sure bromigo

Yeah, again, I'm gonna guess no on the gout.

There is no joint pain, swelling or redness. I've never had a gout symptom in my life.

I jogged for the first time in 5 years and the next day my foot hurt.

Sounds like maybe inflammation of one of your tendons. Maybe related to your shoes or if you were running on an uneven. Hard to say without looking at it myself. Ice massage and anti-inflammatories.

These people say gout are either shticking or didn't even read your post.

I had some peroneal tendonitis for a while. Went away with rest/icing/advil, but never had that bad that I needed crutches.

Ice that thing up a few times a day. Ice massage or ice bucket in morning and evening, ice pack a couple times during day while at office

I really can't see an MRI having much of an impact on your healing. They'll likely just tell you it's tendonitis or something. Most doctors don't know #### when it comes to diagnosing musculoskeletal injuries. If it gets to feeling better over the weekend, I wouldn't waste your time and money. Just my opinion

Right. Avulsion fracture would be noticed by a person immediately and not later in day. Also unlikely you could avulse anything from a light jog

damn iPhone...

avulsion fracture of the ankle. it is sometimes difficult to diagnose and see. it can be trauma related, but maybe this is a sprain gone real bad.

Lets see here... you've been walking for just over a month... jogged for less than half an hour... needed to go to urgent care... x-rays... medication... crutches.

You've got a yeast infection, Nancy.
