guys scoring the long touchdowns? - qb, rb, wr, te (1 Viewer)

My league scoring gives extra points for touchdowns from a longer distance.

I might reach for Chris Johnson or take Torrey Smith a round before he should go just because of this.

Any others I should be thinking of?

Cruz and Wallace score long TD's. I'm in one of those leagues too, and the top QB's (Brees, Brady, Rogers) score a ton because they throw a lot of long TD's.

Julio, Desean Jackson, Shorts, Andre Johnson, Britt, and Jennings use to.

I don't think Brady belongs on this list. He used to throw a lot of bombs but for the last 2 or 3 years I would be surprised if he ranked in the top 10 for qbs in long Tds.

My long yardage league is also a return yards league, so this may not help you much. But here are the top 10 WR and RB for this league (TD's are 6 pts., 60 yard and over TD's are 12 pts, and the other distance scale between the two), along with their total points for the year last year.

WR's

1 COBB, Randall 168
2 BRYANT, Dez 158
3 MARSHALL, Brandon 139
4 GREEN, A.J. 139
5 JONES, Julio 126
6 JOHNSON, Calvin 126
7 THOMAS, Demaryius 124
8 JONES, Jacoby 118
9 JACKSON, Vincent 116
10 JONES, James 115

RB

1 PETERSON, Adrian 187
2 MARTIN, Doug 163
3 LYNCH, Marshawn156
4 FOSTER, Arian 156
5 RICE, Ray 131
6 RICHARDSON, Trent 130
7 CHARLES, Jamaal 130
8 MORRIS, Alfred 125
9 WILSON, David 122
10 SPILLER, C.J. 118

Charles, Spiller and David Wilson should see chances for long TD's. Peterson used to get a few but not sure he can keep it up.
Peterson used to get a few? Were you in a coma last year? He lead the league in runs over 10 yards having more runs of this distance or more than any other team had combined.

Peterson had TD runs of 61, 64, 82 and 82 last season.

Charles had TD runs of 80, 86 and 91 last season

Spiller had TD runs of 44, 56, and 66 last season.

Wilson had TD runs of 40 and 52 last season. He did have a 97yd kickoff return for TD.

Funny how you think these guys are more likely to break off long runs than Peterson just because they cannot do all of the other things Peterson does. They need these long runs more because these guys are not pile movers.

I do not understand the reasoning for awarding additional yardage bonus only to TD runs. Why not just give a bonus for runs over 20yds/40yds/60yds if they are a TD or not? Seems odd to give double yardage to a guy who is already getting plus 6 points for the TD and not give the double yardage to a guy who runs 60+ yards but gets stopped at the 1yd line. That play gets double hosed by this scoring system.

Yeah, it's weird playing in a league that does it. But it does add a pretty cool element to the draft strategy and it makes the league fun. I wouldn't do it in all my leagues, but playing in one is fun.

I agree it adds a different wrinkle to things. At the same time it is such a random event more dependent on the spot of the ball than anything else. This makes the cheese factor pretty high for these plays.

We give 6pts for all Tds under 40 yds and 9 pts for all Tds over 40 yds. In my league Brees was #1 overall scorer for 2nd consecutive season he scored 511 pts. The yr before he scored 575
