agreed.I havn't watched too much of the Bears this year, but I honestly think that this Skins team hits harder than the 2000 Ravens(that is not at all saying that they are better in any way though). The Skins and the Bears both have some hitters.........Skins D hits harder than any team in recent memory imho.
That should be enough points for Seattle to win the game.7-3 Seattle at the half.
Seattle has far more talent than Washington. Gibbs is not being owned. at all.And that should be enough points if they happen to meet again next year. Gibbs is being oVVned today.
1 and goal from the 10...2 consecutive runs???I'll give Gibbs and the skins their due for a great year, but they're being outplayed and outcoached by a team that's roughly the same caliber.Seattle has far more talent than Washington. The Skins were a team that nobody predicted to make the playoffs- Even after they started 3-0. Look at this thread for a great example. The Seahawks are one of the most talented teams in the NFC and a ton of people predicted them to win their division.1 and goal from the 10...2 consecutive runs???I'll give Gibbs and the skins their due for a great year, but they're being outplayed and outcoached by a team that's roughly the same caliber.Seattle has far more talent than Washington. Two more TD's and I'll be happy.17-10 Seahawks now.
All I hear is Wah Wah Wah.Just curious....did the Hawks beat the SPREAD....ya, so you weren't right in your prediction.I probably won't be seen in the Shark Pool for a few days, so let me try to cover everything here:
1. Congrats to the Seahawks and their fans. They were the better team today, and they deserve to be where they are at.
2. The key play of the game imo was a play that didn't even get much publicity. Washington had just scored and was up 3-0. Hasselbeck threw a terrible pass the C Rogers had a chance to intercept and take in for the score. He dropped it. If the Skins go up 10-0 there, they win the game imo. Two plays later the refs gave Seattle a very generous spot after 3rd down, and they went on to score.
3. Four teams advanced farther than the Redskins this year. If fans of those teams want to come in here and gloat, I'll listen to it and take it like a man. To all of the fans of other teams: Your team did no better than the Redskins, so you have no right to brag.
4. FWIW, I was absolutely perfect in my predictions of the Redskins this year: I predicted them to go 10-6, make the playoffs as a wild card, beat TB, lose to Seattle. If anyone wants to rub it in, please consider this first.
5. I will be back in here sometime, and I will read and respond all of the trash talk that I'm sure will come. Please don't take my disappearance that is soon to come as a sign that I'm avoiding this thread. I'm just really depressed about the Skins right now and have no desire to watch or talk football.
6. How do you miss a 36 yard FG?
7. The Skins D is great. They force TOs as well as any unit in the league, they are young, they hit hard, they will only get better.
8. The Skins need a #2 WR and a QB of the future. Other than that, they have all of the pieces for a championship squad.
9. I am a bit jaded due to the fact that Washington played such a hard schedule and got such bad breaks by the refs in the regular season. If they had bee a top 2 seed, I feel like things would be differently, but I guess those are the breaks.
10. Again, congrats to Seattle and their fans.
Not from me.All I hear is Wah Wah Wah.
You may be right about Brunell. He looks indecisive, barely mobile, and spent now. Early this year he was quite effective. And good lord do we need a second WR.This is true. I've enjoyed your posts over these past few weeks.Congrats on the very good season. Thus ends the Redskins 2005-6 season ----- advancing much further than any of us fans thought they would at the beginning of the year, yet still ending in a defeat that hurts.
Congratulations to the Seahawks. They deserved to win. They played better today, and get to see how far they can go.![]()
My son is all gloomy and crap right now since our team lost, but I'm already optimistic about next year for the Redskins. They need more consistent QB play, more solid backup players, and another WR or 2, not much more than that. Looking good for a change.![]()

Good luck, man. I enjoyed the discussion this week.Good arguments and opinions all week guys. Redskins were a really good team and a team that really preps us for the Panthers or Bears. I don't think we'll see a whole lot better next week as far as fans or defense. Braves on the Warpath, fight for old D.C.
Enjoy your offseason- stay safe, and work hard, and you never know....maybe next year.

Classy posterHail to the Redskins!
The best part? Gibbs proving to all the naysayers that the game has not passed him by. The Hall of Fame was made for men like him.
I wrote this last year after 6-10 and I'll say it now: in today's NFL, where the level of talent from team to team does not vary a great deal, the key is in the coaching. The best teams have it.
Seattle is a beautiful city filled with nice people and has a solid NFL team. Congrats on the win, Seahawk fans. Hope you win it all.

Yes. Agreed. And yes again. Thank you.Seattle is a beautiful city filled with nice people and has a solid NFL team.
Yes. Yes this is true. Also, we don't feel the need to start thread after thread gloating and calling the other team a bunch of choke artists. Pretty much, we're nicer than the average fan.Seattle is a beautiful city filled with nice people and has a solid NFL team. Congrats on the win, Seahawk fans. Hope you win it all.

Ok, I was off by one carry. Sue me.Portis is going to get punked by the Seahawk D. The reason they didn't list his injury is they don't want anyone targeting his shoulders. Holmy wasn't born yesterday, you know hes gonna put some helmets on Portis' shoulders, early and often. Portis will be lucky to get 16 carries.Portis isn't even listed on the injury report. What do you make of that? He's obviously banged up, but I guess this is a statement that he intends to play the entire game. Wonder if this is just wishful thinking.
I thought you missed a couple, so I went ahead and added them. 11. Alexander fumbles at the skins 12yd line in which would have been a sure score early, giving the skins false confidence.I probably won't be seen in the Shark Pool for a few days, so let me try to cover everything here:

It feels good getting this out after 6 weeks doesn't it, congrats.Bottom line they were out classed, even though they had a classy QB like Brunell. And an armpit like Taylor. If you can't beat a team that turns the ball over 3 times, you have no claims to beating them in the first place.
I think QB is a bigger issue than most are saying. Using the "triplets" theory, our Portis-Brunell-Moss "triplets" have a clear weak link, and it's Brunell. He wore down as the season went on - in fact he reminded me a lot of Brad Johnson in 1999 when he lit up defenses for the first half of the year, and then looked spaghetti-armed for the second half. I'm hoping Campbell takes some major steps forward this offseason and is in a position to step in and be successful. Brunell may at this point be better suited in the backup role. I think Ramsey's gone in a trade to a team (e.g. Miami) that needs a young starting QB with the potential to entrench himself in that role.As a long time Redskin homer, I was really pleased with how this season turned out. During pre-season, I really thought we may be looking at another losing season. But the team really pulled through and established something to build on going into next year. Next year. The great thing about sports is there's always a "next year."
So, that leads me to a question for you all. What are the Redskins big "to do" list between now and the start of next season, in order to keep this team competitive and win a few more games next season. Through the course of the year, I think they did a great job establishing a solid running game and toward the end there they really created a lot of turnovers, while holding on to the ball themselves. But what do they need to do to get better?
Here's a starter for the list. Add more as you see fit...
1. They BADLY need a second WR. Keep Thrash because he is a solid role player. But it's time to jettison Taylor Jacobs I think. They have talked about him for years but he's just not panning out. Ferris is an afterthought. Patten is a possibility when he comes back but I think they really need a big possession type guy. As good as their season was, at the end, the good teams learned how to put clamps on the main rec threats (Moss and Cooley) and the Skins had no alternatives. Until they get another alternative, their offense will surely suffer.
What others do you see?
M
(the Redskins lost and I'm still a fan...does that mean I'm not a bandwagon guy? lol)

With your defense where it's at, the offense needs to start thinking of the future too (and isn't Brunell on the last year of his contract next year anyway?). Give Campbell some early starts to at least give him some experience.Gibbs feels he has 'core group' in place; Ramsey, Arrington still up in the airJan 16, 7:06 PM (ET) Email this StoryASHBURN, Va. (AP) - The Washington Redskins stuffed their belongings into huge plastic bags, exchanged hugs and phone numbers, took their physicals and attended one final round of meetings Monday before heading into the offseason. The ritual is the same every year, but this time most of the faces were bright and full of optimism. Buoyed by the team's first playoff run in six years, some players sounded as though they couldn't wait to return to work and help take the team even further next season."We've really set ourselves up for a good stretch here," right tackle Jon Jansen said. "We've accomplished a lot this year. We set a good foundation, and that's something we can build on."Coach Joe Gibbs' message to the players was similarly upbeat. He said he wanted to keep his key players - unlike last year, when Antonio Pierce and Fred Smoot departed via free agency - and said the confidence gained from this season's success could lead to better things. He then met individually with most of the impending free agents, a list that includes two regular starters: safety Ryan Clark and tight end Robert Royal."I think we've got a core group to build around," Gibbs said. "Everybody told me when I came back that you have a salary cap and that you can't keep a team together. I don't believe that. We're going to work extremely hard to keep everybody together - and then hopefully improve in some areas."One player not in that core group is quarterback Patrick Ramsey, who lost the starting job in the first half of the first game. With Mark Brunell returning as the starter and first-round pick Jason Campbell the heir apparent, Ramsey understandably declined to answer when asked Monday whether he wants to be back."I'd like to play," Ramsey said. "If I'm going to develop as a quarterback in this league and play well, I think it needs to start at some point soon. ... We'll see what happens."Ramsey has one relatively affordable year left on his contract, so the Redskins could keep him as an alternative in case Brunell struggles and Campbell takes longer than expected to develop. Gibbs' tone suggested otherwise. A trade appears the most likely scenario."Patrick and I had a good talk," Gibbs said. "What we agreed to do is just continue to talk over these next few weeks. He'll probably do a little thinking, I'll do some thinking and we'll do some talking."(AP) Washington Redskins head coach Joe Gibbs laughs while speaking to the media at Redskins Park in...Full ImageInterestingly, Gibbs said he didn't meet with LaVar Arrington, whose future is also uncertain. The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker reiterated the remarks he made following Saturday's game, when he said he wanted to return and expressed some regrets for criticizing the team publicly during this season. He also said he is open to reworking a contract that currently stands to count approximately $12 million against the salary cap next season. But Gibbs was noncommittal."Today was awful quick to be thinking about some of that," Gibbs said.Although he spoke of being tired late in the season, the 65-year-old coach said Monday that his stamina is no issue and that he's still on course to fulfill the five-year contract he signed two years ago. He said one of his first priorities this week will be to sign some of the assistants to contract extensions to maintain continuity among the coaching staff.Gibbs' offense improved from 30th to 11th season, and the defense was solid once again, but there was one offseason item at the top of most everyone's wish list: another solid receiver to take some of the attention away from Santana Moss."We've got find someone to complement Santana," defensive end Phillip Daniels said. "Once we put it all together, there's going to be some great things here for the Redskins."The team could also use some depth along the offensive and defensive lines, plus a starting linebacker if Arrington is cut or traded. Gibbs will consider all these things in the coming weeks as he reviews a season's worth of games."Everything's on the table as far as I'm concerned," Gibbs said.
This is the key to future success: How many players actually want to leave? Not many. I don't even think Lavar wants to leave. And, how many players will want to come to DC for something more than just a big contract? For years, the Skins have attracted guys only looking for their payday. Hopefully that will change and they can attract quality players looking for a quality team.Heading into the offseason on a positive note:
