I'm in a 14-team 5x5 roto league. You keep five players, all who had to have been drafted in the 4th round or later (you can keep players for three years before they go back into the draft).

My keepers this season:

Ian Stewart

Jonathan Sanchez

Adam Jones

Alexei Ramirez

Andre Ethier

Here's the team I drafted:

1. (7) Miguel Cabrera

2. (22) Chone Figgins

3. (35) Ricky Nolasco

4. (50) Alfonso Soriano

5. (63) José Valverde

6. (78) Gavin Floyd

7. (91) Nolan Reimold

8. (106) Matt Lindstrom

9. (119) Johnny Cueto

10. (134) Dexter Fowler

11. (147) Hiroki Kuroda

12. (162) Ian Desmond

13. (175) Yadier Molina

14. (190) Jason Hammel

15. (203) Juan Gutiérrez

16. (218) Cameron Maybin

17. (231) Jhonny Peralta

Obviously, some of these guys worked out, some didn't. I dropped Peralta, Gutierrez and Hammel pretty early. Later Maybin, Fowler, Reimold, Cueto, Floyd, Desmond, Molina and Adam Jones. Floyd went through a couple other teams before he settled down. I've dropped and picked up Cueto twice now. Adam Jones found his way to another team.

Here's my team today:

C Ronny Paulino (Fla - C)

1B Miguel Cabrera (Det - 1B)

2B Chone Figgins (Sea - 2B,3B)

3B Ian Stewart (Col - 2B,3B)

SS Alexei Ramírez (CWS - SS)

OF Brennan Boesch (Det - OF)

OF Delmon Young (Min - OF)

OF Aubrey Huff (SF - 1B,OF)

Util Scott Podsednik (KC - OF)

BN Andre Ethier (LAD - OF)

BN Dayan Viciedo (CWS - 3B)

BN Alfonso Soriano (ChC - OF)

BN José Guillén (KC - OF)

SP Carlos Silva (ChC - SP)

RP José Valverde (Det - RP)

RP Matt Lindstrom (Hou - RP)

P Jonny Venters (Atl - RP)

BN Jonathan Sánchez (SF - SP)

BN Ricky Nolasco (Fla - SP)

BN Max Scherzer (Det - SP)

BN Hiroki Kuroda (LAD - SP)

BN Johnny Cueto (Cin - SP)

So, yeah. I'm in 12th place. I've never finished below 7th in this league and am usually somewhere in the top 5. It's been a rough year. On the plus side, I think with a little pitching help I could make a good run in the second half. The team that gains the most points in the standings in the second half gets second pick next season. So being as low in the standings as I am will help me in that regard.

I think I have a decent crop of keeper prospects for next season: Boesch, Ethier, Young, Valverde, Sanchez, Scherzer. I'm bummed about my middle infield, but Alexei has shown signs of life and Viciedo has some promise. Not sure if either will be keeper-worthy though.

How about the rest of you? How are you doing and how do you feel about the second half?

12 team mixed salary cap keeper auction - 1st

Keepers - Mauer, Reynolds, Cano, Cruz, T Hunter, Lince K, Werth, J Weaver

$ Draft picks/waiver pick up's - Colby Lewis, Jaime Garcia, Kelly Johnson, Hamels, Quentin, Heyward, Pagan, hodge podge of closers (Simon, Gregg, Axford), and Volquez (wait for it)

Traded Carlos Pena and Granderson for A Gone preseason and Brian Wilson for Verlander in late April

12 team H2H pts league - 1st in pts, T-3rd in standings

Biffed the Grady Sizemore pick, but did well the rest of the draft (Scott Sizemore's the only other pick that hasn't panned out) and nailed later round picks and early season waivers with Mike Napoli, Kelly Johnson, Phil Hughes, Jonathan Sanchez, Colby Lewis, and Pagan.

12 team mixed deep dyno w/taxi - 3rd and need a ton of help to reach the top 2 or a ton to go wrong to be caught

Weak depth at OF and pitching is what will keep me from the top, I have a lot of both but they aren't putting up the numbers I need to get over the hump and the starters I drafted, while playing well, aren't playing great which is what I apparently needed. Getting sniped in the draft for Ervin Santana, Furcal, and Maggs has been the difference so far as my replacement picks were Randy Wolf, Hardy, and Carlos Guillen  . Squad still looks strong for next season though.

Feeling real good about my offense, but my pitching needs work. I've been hovering around a 4 ERA all season and can't break out. I'll be having a real good night and get "Quallsed" by someone.

Finally traded away my last keeper (Desmond Jennings) so I'm now in a "go for it" mode.

Question marks

C - Miguel Olivo - Can he keep it up? I'd take a mirror of the first half, but catchers wear down as the season goes on.

MIF - Alex Gonzalez / Ian Desmond - One of these guys gets cut when Tulo comes back.

OF - Carlos Lee / Dexter Fowler / Corey Patterson / Jose Tabata / Fonzie Soriano / Godzilla - Dunn and Victorino are my main duo, will any of this rabble fill out a solid 5 man outfield?

P - De La Rosa - The K's seem like their back, but is he essentially Johnathan Sanchez?

P - Brett Myers / Colby Lewis - Nice first halves, but scared about 2nd half

P - Nolasco / Cahill - will the good outings outweigh the bad?

P - Hellickson - will they ever call this guy up?

12 team total points league I'm in first place by a good amount. Probably about 8% greater than 2nd place.

12 team H2H weekly points league with static lineups for the week... I'm in a clusterf tie @ 7-7 with 5 other teams. H2H sucks.

2 different leagues

12 team 5X5 roto: running in 5th, but am 60+ innings down waiting for Beckett, Anderson, Bedard, and M Gonzo to come back.....this team will make a run

12 team 5X5 H2H: 4th best team 72-58-10, 3rd in my division. This league is just about as screwed up as any league I've ever played in(can only pick up players that have yet to play-forcing very early AM pickups to stream pitchers) UGHHHH!!!!!

I'm stuck around 3.90. But the really brutal thing is my team WHIP goes into the break at its high point—1.36 after Silva's performance on Sunday. You can make a good run at fixing a bad ERA, but a WHIP like that just seems to linger forever. Ugh. On the plus side, I have plenty of innings to burn in the second half, so if I can catch some better luck, I can make a significant improvement.

My former 3-time champion 11-player keeper hit the tank this season. Just got out of last place.

Outside of Miggy and drafting CBY, pretty much every keeper and draft pick has been a bust of some sort (Ellsbury, C.Lee, Quentin until this week, Aramis, Utley, Kinsler, Berkman, Kyle Blanks, Chris Davis who I almost dropped 30 times, Nolasco, Brett Anderson, Johan who stopped striking people out, Shields, Hoffman, Qualls). Finally let go of Rios this season after keeping him for 4. Then I drafted/picked up and dropped Glaus, Jose Bautista, and Scherzer. Pretty much did everything wrong this year.

They got hot this week. Maybe I can squeak into 6th place or so.

10 team, 10 keeper, head-to-head scoring league. I protected:

Alex Rodriguez

Jimmy Rollins

Dustin Pedroia

Adam Jones

John Lackey :bag:

Brandon Webb :bag:

Wandy Rodriguez :bag:

I left the last three spots unprotected to move up in those rounds, which turned into:

Josh Johnson :)

Josh Hamilton

and CarGo

Other notable good picks:

Strasburg in round 11

Uggla in round 15

Jered Weaver in round 17

Konerko in round 25

Capps in round 29

Podsednik in round 39

I'be also gotten good mileage from ISFA pick-ups Clayton Richard, Jason Hammel and Joulys Chacin.

In first place by 5 points right now.

I'm in first in my 10 team, 3 keeper league. I kept Miguel Cabrera, Matt Kemp, and Matt Holliday. I am first in every offensive category but steals. My pitching is really good, but unlucky. I am in the top 3 in ERA, WHIP, and K's, but dead last in wins. Made some really solid picks in the mid-late rounds like Josh Hamilton, Jason Heyward, Kelly Johnson, Adrian Beltre, and Tim Hudson. I was able to get Carlos Santana and Chris Young off waivers. My only injuries worth noting have been Heyward and Brett Anderson.

20 team league - you keep everyone on your roster -25 spots. 7X7 (5X5 plus BB, OPS, L and BB). Came in 2nd last year (maybe top 5 don't remember)

Starting lineup from the beginning of the year and I'm hovering between 10th and 14th.

Mauer

Texeira

Pedroia

Orlando Cabrerra

Arod

Grady Sizemore

Michael Bourn

Autsin Jackson

Berkman or Pablo Sandoval was in the util spot the other on the bench.

Lindstrom

J. Shields

Happ

Marcum

My pitching while nothing to look at has been okay (better than expected). Scrubs over preforming and decent pickups (gregerson and santos). A good start from Myers has helped, I got Strasburg and Madison Bumgardner in the draft. If Volquez comes back healthy and my hitting improves I might, might be able to claw my way back into the top 5-8 or so by the end of the year.

I just had a roster shakeup today.

Traded Johan for B. Phillips and then traded Olivo for Pagan.

I then dropped Guillen who was playing 2nd and picked up Vazquez.

My team is currently first in Wins by a decent margin. Team ERA is still under 3.00 and WHIP is at 1.16 so I think I can afford the drop from Johan to Javier. I am hoping that his slightly higher K rate will help me move up in K's. Santana's K rate is not quite what it used to be.

Adding Phillips and Pagan may allow me to either move N. Morgan to the bench or trade his steals for a closer to help there. Just getting is average and OPS out of the lineup should help.

New roster

C. Santana - C

M. Cabrera - 1st

Phillips - 2nd

Theriot - SS

Zimmerman - 3rd

K. Johnson - MI

M. Reynolds - CI

Kemp - OF

A. Jones - OF

Bruce - OF

Pagan - OF

Glaus - UT

C. Ross - UT

Adam LaRoche - B

N. Morgan - B

Starters

Wainwright, Price, Garza, Nolasco, C. Lewis, Dempster, Buchholz, Vazquez

Relievers

Soriano, Broxton, Papelbon, Axford, Motte

Good luck to everyone in the second half.

Dynasty (Uber 4-sport dynasty): 1st (Pujols, A-Rod, Holliday, Rollins, D. Lee, Uggla, M. Young, C. Young, Victorino, J. Johnson, Ubaldo, Verlander, J. Santana, Jenks, Valverde). 4th year of dynasty

Dynasty (Serious Business): 3rd (had pitching issues last year, now have power issues and Utley hurt. Traded C Gonzo for J Santana) 3rd year of dynasty

Keeper: 11th (expansion team with loads of young players and vets I drafted like Vlad and Wells along with a bunch of crap. I hate you Grady Sizemore and Brian Roberts)

UPDATE: I somehow managed to get my WHIP down to 1.28 and ERA to 3.68 (it had topped out at 4.13 on 7/16), thanks to Hudson, Scherzer, Sanchez, Kuroda and Cueto. Unfortunately I continued to suffer horrible beats in the win column. And my offense tanked in the second half. Basically one half of my roto standings went up and the other half went down. Scales of justice. I was 57.5 at the half. I'm at 60.5 now.Rough season. But I have some solid keepers for next year. I'll post another updated when all's said and done.
