itsatip that $$$$$ can change a lot of people's minds
Are you suggesting that Hank Aaron was paid to do this?
I wouldn't be surprised if the MLB threw him a few 100K to do this warm, lovey-dovey video messasge. Do I have proof? No. But you would be naive to think that there's a strong possibility that this didnt happen
Anything is possible, but I feel like it didn't go down as such. I think when Hank looked at it in the big picture, he didn't want to be part of the chase, the circus and be there and forced to hug the guy. But at the same time, when it came down to how Hank's legacy would be remembered, I think he felt sufficently safe that those of us that love the game will always hold him in proper perspective, as the all time HR king and recognize this sham. So rather than appeal bitter, petty or small, he takes the intiative as a bigger man and offers some praise to Bonds and basically has the entire country having this conversation today about what a great guy he is. Not that being seen as a great guy is his intent, but rather he didn't want to come off as a jerk. I don't think his blessing was important enough to MLB to offer the kind of money that would have been required to buy a man like Hank Aaron.

It's always amusing when someone subtly mocks naivete while forming their opinions on rampant cynicism. It's essentially the same error.
