Hard Choices by Hillary Clinton (1 Viewer)

Comes out June 10. So far all the talk is about what she wrote about Benghazi, but it's a 600 page book. Not sure if it's just about her time as Secretary of State, or if she gives her thoughts on the 2008 election as well, and her years as a senator. Either way, should make for a good read. Will you read it?

I received an advanced copy of Hillary's book. I was surprised by the chapter entitled "A Lady in the Streets, but a Freak in the Sheets".

Nope. Don't care for the Clintons don't feel like enriching them. Please someone run from her left.
Hope so, because she is going to get smoked by whoever the GOP puts up (and sucks).
Not according to current polling. She beats the GOP in Ohio polling for instance. She is ahead by as much as 15 points in Oregon. She gets moderates and even some self identified conservatives.

That's current polling. I'd be interested in polling conducted after people have to look at her mug everyday for an extended period of time. Maybe she has enough power to run unopposed, but if a good looking well spoken guy/gal like Obama joins the mix she will likely take a hit.

I agree. However I think they are going to try to clear the field for her. We need a credible alternative to run. I am so tired of these third wayers.

It's true the GOP has an electoral map problem, starting with right smack dab in the middle of the midwest.

However I think Hillary has a growing problem with Obama's approval rankings. Open seat third term campaigns (admittedly usually VPs) usually don't work out very well, Bush Sr. being the exception,

Even Rasmussen has her beating Jeb.

Not going to read it, not going to vote for her. I'm sick of hearing about the Bushes and Clintons, and think we'd be better served by finding soneone with no connection to either group to run for office. Even then, I'm pretty sure our choices aren't going to be good ones.

No doubt, I'm just commenting on the 'third way' statement. Looks a lot like a quasi-family-oligarchy to me.

You people keep voting for, and arguing over just the D's and R's get what you deserve.

Unfortunately other than Gary Johnson no one all that credible runs as anything else. Roseanne Barr?

Well I'm going to read it. If nothing else, I expect it to be a well written and fascinating narrative. I'm curious to see if she will admit that, according to reports, she and Robert Gates were against the Bin Laden operation as too risky and that Obama decided to do it in spite of their objections.

Because Hillary just hasn't been in the public eye enough yet for people to know her?

Hillary Clinton is a pathological liar. The book coming out now is to try and cast her in a favorable light...although not sure that is possible. I have no desire to read anything by her.

And if they did, I have difficulty believing they'd manage to remain credible for very long.

When I was a child, I spake as a child. I understood as a child. When I became a man, I put away childish things. St. Paul. First Corinthians. Thirteen eleven.

Not sure how any reasonable thinking human would think otherwise....

The D's and R's are the problem. I believe the more choices we have, the better. The other problem is the fact that the media acts like those are the only two choices we have.

Is there any evidence to back up that claim? Because the polls I've seen don't support it. But maybe I'm missing something.
Don't really have any use for polls this far out. She doesn't have anything to run on.

I don't think looks will play a significant role. When you look at female women leaders (Thatcher, Merkel), it appears to be more of a hardened, no BS appearance.

She has plenty to run on with regards to what counts in winning elections.

She doesn't have anything to run on.
She's got her last name. That's enough.
She's been First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State. Not to mention Yale JD, Congressional legal counsel, etc. She also has plenty of issues - i.e., she tried to bring up health care before health care reform was cool.

I'd say she is as qualified as anyone out there to run.

Certainly a better resume than Obama

She's not a Republican, so there's that.

I'm not sure the book is a good idea actually. People that don't like her most likely won't change their mind by reading the book. All the book will do is provide ammo for the Rs either on things she omits from the book or from things she embellishes.

I honestly think that America would be more willing to embrace a less attractive / more masculine looking/acting woman than one who is more fem and attractive, at least for President.

Like her or not, Hill is a smart cookie. I am fairly confident that she's aware of this and scrutinized the book accordingly.

FWIW, I think there are plenty who may not like her but might (1) soften that stance (2) recognize her strengths as compared to whomever the GOP puts out there (3) may just recognize she may be the lesser of two evils.

I used to hate Hillary, but I admit I've gained a good bit more respect for her over the past few years.

Except that, in the two of these that should actually matter (Senator and Sec. of State), she has done a terrible job. She doesn't offer anything different than any other Third-Way Democrat.
