Who should I select with 1.01 rookie pick considering league starter settings?

16 team 20 player deep dynasty league.  NON-PPR start 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WRs, 1 FLEX (WR/RB/TE), 1 TE.

RB: J. Taylor; CEH; Damien Harris;

WR: DK Metcalf; DJ Chark; M. Gallup; M. Pittman; C. Davis;

Was leaning towards Chase due to being able to being able to start a max of 2 RBs and the longer dynasty lifespan of a WR, but sounds like Harris is going to be a 3 down back and get 300 touches barring injury.  Should I go with Chase or Harris with the 1.01 rookie pick and why?

I see your point completely. But I'd still go Harris. Could think about trading him or another of your RB's (or the pick itself) for a WR. But if you keep the 1.01, I would take Harris.

The rookie draft is about finding guys that hit regardless of position.  Who do you see as the best chance to hit?  Take that guy.  I know when taking about Harris & Chase they both should hit but you should have an opinion on which is more likely based on your league settings.  Go with that one.

For me, I would go with Harris.

Interesting trade offer.  Our rookie drafts are 2 rounds.  I can trade the rookie 1.01 and receive the 1.02 and 2.02(18).  I own the 2.01(17).  So I would go from 1.01 and 2.01(17) to 1.02 2.01(17) and 2.02(18) if I accept.  I know they are targeting Harris so I would get Chase.  Would you make that trade considering these league settings and my current roster?

The trade would allow you to take Chase (assuming Harris goes 1.01), who is more fit for your roster. It is an interesting offer. My initial thought is to accept this offer, if you have room on your roster without having to cut someone that you like. Wait for someone with more experience to chime in, don't depend on my opinion, haha. But, I like it.

This all boils down to how you compare Chase vs Harris (if those are your top two players).  Essentially if you have no value difference between the top two players on your board then you accept this deal easily.  If you have one guy slightly ahead of #2 then it's a little bit of thought and you should still probably take it.   If you have one guy greatly above the #2 guy then keep your pick and take your guy.

It really is that simple.

If there was one guy that you liked that much more than the other, then I wouldn't be making the trade.  But since you are asking, then it is probably safe to assume you see Harris and Chase pretty equal.  If that's the case, then I am accepting this deal.  You get the extra pick and still get one of the two!

I originally saw Chase and Harris as close to equal from a dynasty perspective with Chase having a slight edge due to our league settings, but after seeing each at training camp I started to reassess as Harris has looked great and Chase not so much which is why I posed the question.  Then I continued to see reports on the cincy offense struggling and also feedback on here which pushed me to favor Harris with the 1.01.  I was worried Chase could turn into a Sammy Watkins!  Then the trade offer was made and think could turn that extra pick into Fields or Lance who have elite QB potential.  The owner trading had Cam Akers so know he will take Harris based upon our discussions.

I always agonize over these picks so appreciate all of the feedback.  I'm leaning towards accepting the trade and taking Chase at the 1.02, but going to monitor training camps this week and told the guy I would make a decision by Friday.

Training camp reports are what they are.  It's some information but not necessarily the best information.  It's one piece to the puzzle and when you are talking a dynasty asset I am not really all that concerned with the types of reports these two are getting.  If they are extremely negative (can't learn the playbook, having trouble against pro DB's, etc) then maybe I give it some more weight but these kind of things are blah and really have no bearing on my evaluations for long term.  They are rookies.  There will be growing pains.  It's the first TC.  Not a big deal.

I feel your pain man. I'm in a 16 team keeper (6 offense /8 defense) full IDP, partial PPR with a slight TE premium. So not quite a dynasty but large for a keeper.

I have the 1.1 and this one was wearing me out. Trying to decide between Harris, Chase and Pitts. With such a large league positional advantage is huge. I have a weakness at RB and TE. My WR's are ok but no world beaters. My league dynamic screams "take the RB" but I just cannot sell myself on Najee being head and shoulders above the others. Especially with that O-line and Ben's longevity in question. That O-line and Mason Rudolf don't excite me. Admittedly, I always struggle with Alabama backs. I feel like they always play with superior teammates and coaching so it's hard for me personally to place their value accordingly. I'm also fairly high on ETN. Ultimately I traded some pieces and acquired the 1.4. I am taking Pitts, then the best of Harris, Chase or ETN.

For you though, I think pkroper22 said it best. If you are here asking who to take you clearly have Chase and Harris very close. Close enough to get an extra pick and still get a quality player. Unless something happens soon that sways your decision drastically I would strongly consider the offer.
