Harrison Smith value? (1 Viewer)

That one guy

Footballguy
16 team, full IDP league

Scoring:

DL - 2 per tackle, 1 per assist, 4 per sack, 2 per TFL, 4 per safety, 2 per passes defensed

LB - 1.5 per tackle, .75 per assist, 4 per sack, 2 per TFL, 4 per safety, 2 per passes defensed

DB - 1.75 per tackle, .75 per assist, 4 per sack, 2 per TFL, 4 per safety, 4 per passes defensed

A contender wants my H Smith (w/ 3 yr contract). Continued offers to me involve D Trevathon or D Davis (NYJ) coupled w/ Earl Thomas or draft picks for my Smith, H Anderson (IND DE), and H Kikaha (NO LB). The team I took over isn't a contender, but the 2 rookies (Anderson and Kikaha) are really looking good and Smith is listed as top 2 DB and top 15-20 overall IDP player on rankings. My other LBs are Lauranaitis, K Robinson, JT Thomas, P Smith, S Barrington.

Since I'm looking to the future w/ this team, I'm not so sure I want to give up Smith and the 2 rookies thinking they're actually a decent group of IDP holdings.

Do you see either of the offered LBs as good enough value to part w/ Smith and the 2 rookies?

Smith, Kikaha, and Anderson are nice young building blocks. I assume you have them for cheap so it will allow you to build elsewhere with the savings.

So far I don't see anything being offered that helps your long term build. You need some young talent that could be building blocks and the guys the other guy is targeting could be that. I would hold for now.

That's where I've been leaning as I try and learn IDP (my first year). I think about the only thing that could get me to budge is a high rookie draft pick for H Smith straight up. And since this team is a contender, a 2nd round pick would very likely be pretty late...probably still stick with what I have and build from there

I totallly concur.. The guys trying to rip the new guy off..

Smith is one of my fav IDPs.. The new MLB etc. could change the value some (but hes a Stud)

Im just totally impressed w Anderson << Im slightly concerned theres a risk he plays so hard that he may be an injury risk (currently injuried) But,,

Kikaha is the one you need to hold w/o a doubt.. This is the Rookie type stats that ya hope too see.. We dont know if hes experiencing fng luck or hes just getting warmed up..

You should check the IDP section, theres a post for each player..

Once again there are pretty much no trade guys, unless you get a seriously stupid offer..

When you look to the future.. You may want to evaulate higher draft picks that aint seeing the field as much for possible trades..

Basically you may decide your not in as much a position to hold players for further development..

The premise being you risk losing out any current available value in the player...

IF the player is starting, and on the field most every play.. This is an almost ideal pick to build around.

Theres always a chance that the production isnt what you expected, after several weeks of evulating performance..

Such is not the case w/ these players..

Now on the other end of the spectrum, you may have players past their prime..

I dont want to appear too stupid, but a possible example might be the Jets David Harris.

Im unaware of his age/contract/ actual performance.. However, I did recently see him make a clean rush to sack the QB, similiar in fashion to performances in the past..

Its possible that Harris could be quite useful to a Team In It To Win It right now..

This would be much closer to an example of a trade for discussion (IF it involves player/pick you like)

For references on the extreme end.. Ray Lewis played for @ 16 yrs in his LB position..

If the above trade didnt include potentially young Stud LB(s) :football: , Im certain we would see more posts. There is some variation in scoring from yr too yr for other positions.

This normal variation is one of the smaller reasons why Smith is so special (#1 DB)

Technically, Im not one to play "Contract players". But having said that, Im not sure I would still want to risk players from next years draft, providing much if any overall improvement..

I would suggest looking in the actual IDP forum, and posting for some explanation (if needed) in order to help better understand strategy, involved for a rebuilding team utilizing contract players

p.s. I may just post something myself, and link to this thread..
