Has any receivers career been more defined by one QB (1 Viewer)

I know it's been discussed but I put the #'s on paper

Bennett's pro-career

235/3402/22 in 72 games

Avg of 3.2/47/0.30

50/882/10 in the 9 games that Volek and Bennett both started.

Avg of 5.5/98/1.1

185/2520/12 in the 63 games that were non Volek starts

Avg of 2.9/40/0.20

in 12% of Bennett's games with Volek starting he amassed

21% of his total catches

26% of his total receiving yards

45% of his total TD's

you can say the numbers are skewed somewhat because a bunch of those games were ones that Bennett played early in his career when he was still learning the system..

well last year...in the 12 games last year that McNair and Bennett both started he put up

55/706/4

Avg of 4.5/59/0.33

better than his career non-volek starts but still nowhere near the Volek-Bennett connection

edited for adjustment in last stats b/c Bennett played only 13 games (12 of which were non-Volek starts)

Good point, although Bennett looked pretty good with Collins back there, and Kerry was locking into him. Of course, Young will likely be in there soon, so all bets could be off.

This is kind of where I was heading.. As a Jet fan I saw Collins lock into Bennett in a way that McNair never seemed to.. Young played only one series so it's hard to tell but I don't remember any targets to Bennett during that series. If Collins can be Billy Volek-esque when playing with Benett, he could be a very nice sleeper

How about Anthony Wright to Marcus Robinson in Baltimore? They were college teammates and Robinson had the best stretch of his career. Remember when he caught 4 TD's in one game?

Brett Favre -------------------------------------->Robert Brooks is the only one I can think of right now. If I am not mistaken Brooks made the probowl as a member of the Packers.

Interestingtake on Bennett - Volek, but Bennet had a pretty gosh darned good game one this year - and Volek was holding a clipboard.

p.s. - I'd say Moss-Culpepper is the clearest similarity - both have been suxor without the other.

Moss didn't suck his first two years with Randal Cunningham. He also didn't suck the first few games with Kerry Collins last year - it was when he got injured he fell apart.

That was not his best stretch. The las 5 games of that year he went for 360 and 6. He had a better stretch/season in 1999 when he put up 1400 and 9 in CHI (with a 800 and 7, 7 game stretch and an 1100 and 9 10 game stretch) with the medioce M QB's (Mattews, Miller and McNown) throwing the ball.

Brett Favre or Jeff Blake to just about whomever was the #1 WR that year. Remember that one year Travis Taylor was sorta good? Yeah...

Brett Perriman-Scott Mitchell

2 years with Mitchell 202/2509/14

After Mitchell 25/392/1 cut by two NFL teams in the same year and never played again.

It is what it is said:

Mitchell and Dave Krieg split time in '94...Krieg throwing 14 touchdowns, Mitchell 10 touchdowns. Perriman started out in New Orleans, and played 10 seasons in the NFL. Perriman had a couple other nice years before Mitchell where he had roughly 800 yards per season. Perriman did have his best years with Mitchell no doubt, but you gotta show the whole picture ;)

Andre Reed -----> Jim KellyMarvin Harrison -----> Peyton Manning
:goodposting: Harrison + Manning are the record-holders for lots of the one Qb to one WR stuff.Marino and Mark Duper are another good oneKenny O'Brian and Al ToonElway + Shannon Sharpe (I know, a TE)
