Has Anybody Been Taking Part in Mock Drafts? (1 Viewer)

I was thinking about setting up a custom Yahoo league and running a mock draft. I say mock draft because anyone who would sign up and take part would just know that it wasn't a real league but we could just use Yahoo's Live Draft feature to hold our "mock draft."

Anyone know of better, active sites? Expertleagues and antsports, etc offer mock drafts ... but nobody takes part in them after signing up most the time.

What have you guys been doing?

Not a bad idea to do it that way. Most people have more then one Yahoo email address. Just do it under a Yahoo ID you rarely ever use or a different one then you do your real league under on Yahoo.I'll set it up, but do you think we can get 12 people to partake? That will be the tricky part.

 
Does TSN still have free mock drafts every 10 minutes?

The Sporting News mock drafts are money. I went to their site prior to posting this and looked around quickly. Didn't see a link to them but I could have missed it.
 
I did a few mocks at http://mockdrafts.thecommish.tv I'll never go back to antsports, it's the best online draft tool I've used. It's too bad they don't get the traffic that antsports does.

and just what is it about this sites mockdrafts that makes them so much better than Antsports ?I would imagine with a lower rate of traffic that the number of no-shows part way through the draft would be even higher than that at Antsports .. and to me that's alway's a pain in the butt when doing mock drafts.

 
I've tried most of the mock draft sites out there and have to say that mockdraftcentral.com is my favorite. Was just in a draft the other night that had 11 of 12 live owners.

Actually every mock that filled finished without any problems. I found that at antsports the league will fill and 2 or 3 of them won't show. It helps when we solicit people to join in the forums. We get a bunch of people committed, then set up the mock.The draft engine is way better than antsports, that's why I said it was better.

 
Xpertsports has free mockdrafts/survivor drafts. Really useful for practice.

yea someone register one so we can get a FBG live mock going... would be cool. Should hire a programmer who can create FBG software to do this... then we could compile our own primary source ADP with more "knowledgable" drafters.

Actually that brings up an interesting point. It would be cool (and easy) to allow people to have a checkbox that says when setting up a draft "this draft counts toward the FBG ADP". I would set that up if there was interest..

It would be interesting to me Red, but (Brandow) I wouldn't short change the knowledge of the regular xpert drafters. In more survivors than I care to admit, I have seen exactly two drafters who seemed in over their heads. Oh, I have no interest in the first draft I set up. :shrug:

 
I agree with you Chaos, what helps us is that we probably are ahead of anyone else in the "average number of drafts per drafter" metric. I don't have the data to prove this, but I think we are the only site that had to put a limit on the number of mocks/survivors anyone can join at any given time to "only" 50. Last year some guys were drafting in hundreds at a time, and when they went offline they would hold up dozens of drafts.

But all that drafting leads to good drafters, and good results. Though a FBG-only ADP might bring up some interesting differences between the overall ADP.

 
For auction drafts this is easy:

Nothing else comes close. Can even do one vs computer opponents anytime you want - hardly the same as w/real people of course, but still worthwhile if you want to do one (or part of one) any time.

For the weenies still doing snake drafts, this is also easy: Antsports

FBG 2 is set up. It's a 10 team 5 hour clock. I had a couple requests for a slow draft. I made it ten and five because it needs to finish up by 7-2. I'll be out of town for a few days after the 2nd. Same link as in the quote, same instructions for the password.

If you want to mock tonight, 10pm est, there's still 7 slots available in this one. If you haven't drafted at xperts before, register and send me a PM for the password. I'll walk you through some basics to make it go smoother.
