Sounds like Iraq is already a failed state. ISIS (Islamic State in Iraq and Syria) has recently taken over the towns of Mosul and Tikrit and are apparently closing in on Baghdad. Mosul sounds like it was taken without a fight from the Iraq army/police.

Heard today that Tikrit has also fallen. Kurds have taken over Kirkuk.
ISIS was, according to NPR this morning, disowned by Al Qaeda because of their overly brutal tactics. They specialize in training foreign fighters and are big into suicide bombings.
Sounds like by removing Saddam we have turned Iraq of 2014 into Afghanistan of 2001.
The NYT has a map of where ISIS has gained partial or complete control, contested areas, and recent attacks. If they encounter the same resistance in Baghdad that they did in Mosul, Iraq could fall under total ISIS control before the end of the month (my opinion).
