Has anyone ever been in an IDP league (1 Viewer)

I've been in a few IDP leagues and for the most part the teams that end up doing the best are the teams with the best offensive players. I find in most leagues IDP players don't have nearly the kind of impact on a roster as offensive players do.

I'm thinking of starting a league where IDP's can be as valuable as IOP's. The kind of league where having Patrick Willis is just as good as having Adrian Peterson.

Anyone been in a league like this? How did/ does it work? What kind of IDP scoring system, etc.

Any comments, tips or advice would be great.

I play in four leagues where the IDP scoring is higher than your normal "Zealots" IDP scoring. As Jbizzle said earlier, the premier LB's score what the top RB's do.

I really enjoy those leagues because the defensive players are relevant. In Zealots scoring they're almost an after-thought.

Here is the scoring system for IDP's...

T = 2

A = 1

FF = 4

FR = 3

INT = 6

PD = 2

Sack = 4

Safety = 6

Blocked FG, XP or Punt = 6

All Defensive TD's = 6

Offensive scoring is your typical PPR Performance Scoring, 1/20 yds passing, 1/10 rushing or receiving, 1 pt/reception etc.

Offensive players still go before IDP's due to the scarcity of starters, but the playing field is much more level. I highly recommend trying out a similar scoring system.

A league I am in Peterson was the #19 scorer (31.47 pts), Willis was #26 (29.220) and D'Quell Jackson was #30 (28.93). Beason, Ruud and Harrison were other LB in the top 35 scorers all scoring 27+ pts

IDP Scoring:

.375 sack

.600 int

.4 ff/fr

It is a complicated offensive scoring system where RB get .25 for each attempt and .115 for every 15 yards rushing for example.

While the best IOPs will outscore the best IDPs in our system, our scoring usually winds up rewarding the best IDP managers.

Here are the starters -

1qb, 2rb, 3 wr/te, 1 K

2 dl, 2 lb, 2 db, 1 flex IDP

Offense -

td = 6 (rush/pass/rec)

xp = 1

2xp = 2

fg = 3 for 0-39, 4 for 40-49, 5 for 50-55, 6 for 55 +

recpt = .5

int = -1

yardage for qbs - 3 pts at 250 combined yards (rush/pass/rec), +1 for each addl 25 yards

yardage bonus for everyone else - 1 point at 85 combined yards (rush/rec), +2 at 100 yards (so for 100 yards combined you'd get 3 pts at 99 yards only 1 point, at 84 yards 0 points), +1 for each addl 15 yards over 100.

Defense -

UT = 1 pt

AT = .5 pts

sack = 2 pts for each sack for first two sacks, 3 pts each addl sack per game

1/2 sack = 1 pt

safety = 2 pts

td = 6 pts

int = 2 points

Added bonus of +3 points if your player scores a gamewinning play with 0:00 left on the clock in regulation, or if he makes game winning play in OT.

i've had LB'ers lead my league in scoring a number of times over the last 10years. Ray Lewis from the early 2000's, Vilma's monster tackle# season a few years ago and i think Pat Willis's rookie year have all lead my league in scoring. to me its stupid to not have a system in place where IDP can't score comparably to offensive players. its expands things so much for fantasy football. i'd also suggest starting just as many offensive/defensive players

I am in 3 leagues that use pretty much the same scoring that has been posted here and I love it. You can actually win games with a less than stellar offensive team if you have a dominant IDP roster. In fact our champion the last 2 years in one of the leagues had one of if not the weakest RB corps, but he had a strong WR corp and a very strong defensive roster.

the result is always the same, even in leagues that give IDPs equal pts to Offensive, O will be always be more valuable due to the fact that there is always IDPs in the FA Pool while O is slim.

In our league, QB's are the highest scoring (ususally near double of any other skill position), then OL's (about 50% more), then all the other positions. The scoring is too lengthy to list out, but the top RB, WR, TE, LB, DB and DL all score nearly the same. We start 11 IDP vs 7 Off players to offset the depth of IDP's. One other neat thing is instead of a kicker, we have a team special team position which incorporates the kicker, punter and return yardage.

Drafting is interesting as you can never tell who will be chosen in the first round.

5 LB were in the top 30 last year, and Gibril Wilson scored the same as Slaton.

I love the format, one thing you learn in a really heavy IDP league: There aren't enough DE to go around.
