has anyone ever played with a pro player? (1 Viewer)

Just curious? saw vince young in high school.....was so fast.
Curtis Conway played an option/veer QB spot on his team at Hawthorne H.S. in the L.A. area. The guy was a phenomenal althlete and very quick.

Watch Willie Anderson play in high school his school (VIGOR) was our rivals (Murphy), he has fast, strong and dominate. Also when I was a Freshman our team had Keith Mccants (Former Bucs 1st round draft choice), he was like a man amoung boys. He was the fastest, strongest, most athletic player in the field in every game. He could have played Running Back or Wide Reciever if he wanted. In practice he would let a player catch the ball and then hit him as hard as he could to see if he make him fumble it. Coaches had to pull him from practice because he was hurting everyone.

Played against Jonathan Ogden in high school. He played both ways and am just glad I was not an lineman since he was 6'8" and over 300 lbs than. Also used to play pick-up bball with Amp Lee. Talk about fast. He'd run fastbreaks on you all day and just glided down court.

I tackled Vaughn Dunbar twice in a game. He cried.
I got to meet vaughn when i was in the 3rd grade when he played for the saints i believe. his sister was my classmate. Got to wear his IU football helmet.

I played pickup basketball with Bryan Scott (Falcon's safety) when he was at Penn State. He wasn't trying.I couldn't believe how big he was for a defensive back.

Yeah, I played against DJ Williams (Broncos) in High School. The only problem was that it wasnt football, it was basketball. He stole the ball from me and did a backwards dunk when he was only in 9th grade!

Just baseball. Played against several, including Mark McGwire when we was at USC. Pitched and played 1B. WAY different than he is now - pre-juice he was a rail.

played wiffleball at a graduation party for a friend with Bob Sanders 2 years before he came to the NFL. It was raining pretty hard but a bunch of people wanted to play wiffleball. Bob had like 6 at bats and he hit 6 balls that haven't landed yet. 6 ab's 6 HR's it was unreal. Great kid as well!

I played against Ryan Longwell in high school ball (Central Oregon area). He was the kicker for our biggest rival. Even as juniors/seniors in high school, we all knew he would do big things as a kicker. We'd sit on the return team and just watch the ball fly over our heads and out the endzone. Kind of a random thing, but a guy in my church is friends with the Longwells. He's got this kick-butt hot wings recipe, and Ryan took some with him to GB years ago. Supposedly this guy was getting special requests from Reggie White and Favre for his hot wings. It was like a fantasy world for him, because he's a huge Pack fan from the Lombardi days. Anyway, Longwell's a genuinely good guy. Does a lot of charitable work, including Make a Wish.I was a couple years ahead of Jed Weaver (journeyman TE in the league, mostly as a backup with SF, NE, Miami, Denver). My fondest memory of him is when he would play on the scout team, and I played safety. One practice he came up the seam, reached for a floater, and I decleated him. Knocked him out. Not the coolest thing to do your teammate, I know. In high school, as a young guy, he didn't seem like anything special. But he walked on at Oregon, earned a scholarship, and became All-American. Of course now he would absolutely murder me.

Played along side Matt Bowen in HS (Glenbard West). He was a option QB and FS. He was real fast and quick. Pretty much single handily put us in the playoffs three years in a row. He's a SS for Redskins now.

Just baseball for me also. Faced Mark Mulder in the sectionals. Didnt go so well. Two other lower end MLB pitchers that I faced. justin huisman (sp) - i think the royals, and jason Frasor - blue jays.

Actually, I did play with a pro player. There's a FB/LB for the Green Bay Blizzard (arena league) who played TE next to mein high school. He was a year younger. He wasn't all that impressive in high school but really beefed up in college.I also played Little League baseball against Brady Toops; a current minor league catcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. He also went to my high school. The Cardinals drafted him in the 10th round 2 or 3 years ago.

Played with Henry Ford, Bam Bam Morris, Anthony Lynn, Sammy Walker, Zach Thomas, Anthony McDowell, and a few others for which I can't remember. :bag:

Those names are worse then Joe Carcuss! Thanks for the laugh!

They may not be top level professionals but they are professionals! It didn't specify they had to be at the major league level.

My Fiancee worked out with Will Witherspoon when she was in highschool. She was a gym rat and they were fairly good friends in highschool. Might be able to claim a family member makes it pro if he plays better then he did this year. Chad Henne is my second cousin. I didn't see many games this year but I'm under the impression he didn't have as good of a season as he did last year. Not sure if he is really NFL caliber anyway.

Come on, Arena League guys? Most of them make less money then me and I work for a living.....I'm just busting your balls. These kind of thread are just goofy because most of the replys are BS anyway. People can pretend to be anything they want on the internet!

Basketball against Dan Marino when he was a high school junior in CYO league. After the game we had a pickup football game. He hit me (literally) with a pass over the middle which I dropped in pain - I looked down and had an X in the palm of my hand where the ball hit me. :bag: dropped my one and only pass from Dan Marino

I didn't claim it was anything special. :hophead:

Actually, your claim is by far the most believable. Again, nothing personal, just kidding around!

Where did you go to HS, Rockbottom? I'm local to the Concord/Walnut Creek area and used to watch Williams when he was at De La Salle.

Coached J.J. Arrington and Julius Peppers in Pop Warner Football Leagues ages 9-12.In non-football related athletes; I played High School Baseball with Phil Ford(UNC, and Pro Basketball Player). Also had the thrill of watching Buck Williams(Maryland, and Pro Basketball Player) when I was senior and he was a sophomore in High School. We used to see Lefty and Dean every Friday night in the gym.

played high school football with dan klecko (pats d-lineman and sometime fullback and son of joe).he played D-Line but he would always ask the coach to let him play running back and return punts too since he was also fastest besides being the biggest. coach finally let him return some punts for fun and he took one to the house

I'm happy to say that Bob is still hitting hard here in Indy! ;)

My uncle played high school ball with former Jets All Pro linebacker Ralph Baker. My dad supposedly always beat the crap out of him. (he was older) They grew up directly across the street from each other.

I played against Charles Haley once. In a pickup basketball game. :P I was stationed with his brother in the Marine Corps and he came to visit. He was wearing a shirt that had some gym name on it, and his chest was so huge that the name of the gym stretched past both sides of his chest. He got the ball and went toward the hoop on one play and just by shifting his hips he threw me clear out of the lane- and I was no small guy even then. But he was a very nice guy.

I played a game of ping pong with John Madden, Back when he was still with Summerall, then when i left the building i ran into Vanna White. Her purse got bumped out of her hands when i ran into her.She picked up her purse and hurried away, but she left a small piece of paper with a number on it.I called the number and it was Eddie George, he met me at the local park for a game of tag. Not much, but thats all i got.

Did McGwire like to talk about the past when you played him?

Played baseball against Favre (played for Picayune Memorial High School) - yeah he struck me out. in my only appearance against him. I was a soph and he was a senior. Also played baseball with Kevin Smith, former CB for the Cowboys. Moved to Orange, TX my junior year and Smith was a senior. He was a 4-sport athlete. Not very good at baseball, but dominated at football, track and was a very good basketball player.Mud out

See the sixth point down in The Average FBG persona.

That being said, I went up against former NBA #2 overall pick Chris Washburn in high school. In track. Let's just say the high hurdles didn't seem as high to him as they did to me.

Edited to add: In the FFA, the average FBG did much better in his high school match-ups vs. future pro athletes. The stories in here are a bit more, shall we say, realistic.

In High School, I played against 6+ guys who played in the NBA. Also, a couple more in college.Grew up with a journeyman lineman, Jerry Crafts. He was 250+ lbs in grade school. The dude is huge. Last I saw 6'8" 400-450 lbs now.
