Has anyone ever seen an absentee owner make it to the finals? (1 Viewer)

I play in a 12 team, regular scoring $50.00 a person neighborhood league. One of the owners moved out of the area in the beginning of the season and just put his roster on autopilot. I am not the commish of this league and, like I said, it is a neighborhood league that is two years old, so I didn't think it was worth making a stink about...but this guy let his guys sit though all the bye weeks and, unbeliveably still finished 8 - 4. This is a pretty active league too, I mean there have been times when I wanted to pick up guys like MSW and Forsett and got aced out earlier...it has just been week after week of dumb luck with this guy.

Anyways...he made it to the playoffs and had his customary starters of Turner and FWP playing against a team that featured MJD, Rodgers, Miles Austin, Ryan Grant a pretty strong team, you would think that by starting with two goose eggs, his luck would finally run out (although I don't know if you can call it luck since it seems that he does not care) against a good team. But as FF fate would have it...he ####king won!

He rode the Philly D, Ryan Longwell, and Dallas Clark; who all scored out of their gourds to secure him the win! Now, I must admit...I am pretty happy that he won, as I am playing him this week in the semis, but crap, I have never seen anything like this before. Usually every story you see about somebody quitting is that people are pissed because a team is hand out free wins to a few teams, this is the opposite. I will say though that if I lose to this guy this week I am probably going to commit suicide.

On the bright side, I am pretty sure he has gone far enough where he has made his money back, so nobody will have to shake him down for his fees (the commish, for some unknown reason does not require us to pay at the draft).

Goes to show how much luck is involved. Next year, I'm very tempted to let the computer draft my team (auto-pick) and then I'm going to make a starting lineup week 1 and never touch it again just to see what happens. I fear that I will become very disenchanted with the luck factor in FF.

two years ago we were going to try out the free Fox website...they couldn't get it together and didn't get the site up until two days before the season, so I moved the whole league to a different site and sent an email to all the owners. one guy travels a lot and I guess didn't get the email. he was playing on the wrong site by himself, making moves, picking up players---and was 3-2. the rest of the league was playing on a different site, where he was 5-0 without ever touching his team. We finally figured out what was going on during the bye weeks and got him to the right site, where he won the championship. :bag:

Yep, one of our guys didn't make it to our fantasy draft this year and the guys that drafted for him drafted horribly. But with some decentwavier wire pickups and some savy trades he managed to be the 2nd ranked team in a ten team ppr league. It didn't help that one of the teams literally handed Chris Johnson and DeSean Jackson to him.

We were in a family league - my cousins, brothers, dad, etc.

One of the guys drafted his team, set his lineup walked away. One week, he was playing a team my dad needed to lose, so my dad (being very well versed in FF) posted a messgae to the absentee owner and offered him $5 to change his lineup to XYZ (XYZ being the lineup my dad thought was that teams best). The whole league thought it was quite funny (it was done out in the open, more as a joke). The owner did change to said lineup and never touched his team again.

Then he went to the playoffs and won the Championship - all with the single lineup change in the middle of the season. So not only did he win the league (which was only like $50 for first or something) but he got an extra $5 bonus.

One year we had an owner not show up for the draft. The remaining owners drafted the team. We found a replacement owner. He won.

We have rules in our Dynasty League that allow for such a team to be declared an "Orphan" team, and thus ineligible for post-season play. Our Executive Committee is charged with setting weekly lineups, to maintain the league's competitive balance, but beyond that the team is just stale until we designate a replacement owner.

Three years ago in our redraft league a guy let the computer make all the picks, he did not drop or add all year, and ended up winning the league. I think he only had one guy go down to injury.
